Plan-G / Linux Version for X-Plane 11?
March 10, 2018, 08:20:26 PM
I know we are a small group of users but we are growing. I have grown to hate Windows 10, hence the switch to Linux.

I've run XP in Windows 7 and now in Linux, and the sim runs especially well in Linux. There are fewer glitches, and frame rates are higher in my experience.  The downside is that PlanG is not compatible at present.

As an old PlanG user since FS2002, maybe before?, I miss it when planning, and when flying in X-Plane.

I hope I am not crying for the moon, and that you will at least consider it.
Many thanks!

Plan-G / Re: Simconnect problem with P3D v3.4
February 02, 2018, 08:40:22 PM
Thank you again, Tim.

Progress of a sort.

PlanG now connects with Config Index = 2  but the user aircraft does not appear and the Lock/Sync/Free options are greyed out.

I tried using three different simconnect.cfg entries with the second one as the active but the program just hated this and went into a loop. I escaped with Task Manager.

Any more thoughts?  I think I am getting closer!  I take it that PlanG will use the FSX data for use in P3D?  Under Data, the P3D database is greyed out.

Plan-G / Re: Simconnect problem with P3D v3.4

Many thanks, Tim.

I moved the simconnect.cfg to C:\Program Files (x86)\Plan-G v3.2.0. But there is still no connection.  (AS2016 requires this file to be in /..../user/Documents only).
The Simconnect.xml is in the correct place.

Simconnect.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0">
    <Descr>Simconnect Server Configuration</Desc>
    <Filename>Simconnect.xml</Filename>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

<SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Protocol>auto</Protocol>
    <Scope>local</Scope>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Address></Address>
    <Port></Port>
    <MaxReceiveSize>4096</MaxReceiveSize>
    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
  </SimConnect.Comm>

  <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>True</Disabled>
    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
    <Scope>global</Scope>
    <Address>192.168.1.38</Address>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Port>4506</Port>
    <MaxReceiveSize>4096</MaxReceiveSize>
    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
  </SimConnect.Comm>

  <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>True</Disabled>
    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
    <Scope>global</Scope>
    <Address>192.168.1.38</Address>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Port>500</Port>
    <MaxReceiveSize>4096</MaxReceiveSize>
    <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
  </SimConnect.Comm>

</SimBase.Document>

In the program, under FS Connections, I put the address of the server under the right hand column marked Simconnect Settings FSX and under it the server port, 4506 in this case.  I have tried several ports, and changed the port simconnect.xml also.

I was not sure what, if anything, to put under Simconnect Settings P3D.  There is a box marked Config Index with a 0.

Plan-G / Simconnect problem with P3D v3.4
February 01, 2018, 03:43:19 PM
I am running P3D v3.4 on a W10 x64 server, and attempting to connect PlanG with simconnect.
(Previous attempts to connect using WideFS with Pete Dowson's advice have all failed).

These are the relevant files, the simconnect.cfg being in the User/Documents folder - and no duplicates. Thanks for help.

Address=192.168.1.38

Okay, please try build 123 - there are ongoing fixes.

This build works perfectly in W7.  Good to have OpenStreet Maps again.

Mapbox maps don't show though, not that it matters much to me, I prefer OSM.

Thanks for all the support.

Thanks, Tim.

Map ID is an eight letter code.  I set up Mapbox a few months ago soon after MapQuest disappeared.

I know the beta is for Vista and since.  Just to report that the program doesn't work on my client (W7 x64). There were no maps of any description.

No problem returning to v. 3.1.3.113 with Mapbox maps.

Why don't we all (Plan-G) users agree to paying for the Software like we all do for good FSIM programs like Fltsim Commander for instance. It helps the Author and
makes us the users happy

Tim needs to get on with it. There is competition afoot.

Sadly, only the cycle map is left.  The mapbox versions are better than nothing but any I've tried lack topographical details.

Hopefully Tim will find time to sort this. If it has to be a payware bolt-on then some of us might wish to pay, depending... :-\

 :)

Thanks, PDrill. I tried to use Mapbox before but couldn't work it out at all.

You made it easy as pie.

I am using Emerald style. Not bad for roads and great for rivers but no railways so far and topographical details are scanty.
Has anyone tried creating their own style?  On the face of it a daunting challenge but maybe there's an easy way...

Plan-G / Database inconsistency
January 11, 2016, 09:23:35 AM
I am using v.3.1.3.113 in FSX/W7.

When I update the database across my network using v.3.1.3.113 some airports are missed e.g. LHPP. This airport is not missed in v.3.1.2.101 as I currently have that version installed on my server.

Testing this, when I updated the database on my server directly today, LHPP was lost from the database.
I was able to restore it from an earlier backup 'Data' folder from v.3.1.2.101.

It seems there is a bug in database build utility which is active irrespective of the PlanG version used.

I'm having a problem with this beta too. Where is it?

I thought I downloaded and installed it but my log file shows I am running 3.1.2.101.

Plan-G / P3D v3 database problems

 I am running v.3.1.1.113 beta in W7 x64. This version worked for X-Plane but not P3D v3.

I've attached a log and would be grateful for advice.
