Plan-G / First impressions of Plan-G
December 14, 2010, 05:30:46 PM
Greetings all and to Tim,

So.. I've been way from flight sim for a while. Got the bug again after watching a few Flight sim Youtube vids and seeing the great tools & toy's available theses days.

I Loaded FS9 and started with a fresh install. Realized my system could take setting all the sliders to Max. As soon as I stared flying all the memories from a good 4-5 years ago started rolling in. I was remembering all the great add-ons I use to have and began a trek to find them. One was FSNav. To make a long story short FsNav is not available anymore and I found Plan-G then installed Plan-G last night for the first time.

Loading and setting up Plan-G was easy!!
After about 2 hours of playing with Plan-G flying VFR in a Cessna I started comparing it to my memories of FsNav. I came away with two things that bugged me.

1. As Lancee noted in his voting thread (and was included in FSNav)...  I would love the "Fly to here" in a right mouse button click. This would engage the Autopilot to fly a heading to the location clicked. Once arrived at the location the flight plan disengages but the auto pilot keeps the heading until it receives pilot input.

2. Compared to FsNav... Plan-G is not smooth. Meaning as I flew or clicked around there is a obvious delay in the program. I assume this has to do with the connection to Google Earth. As FsNav was independent of a web connection and a much more simple map, FsNav was much more smooth. Perhaps there could be an option for using Plan-G off line?

Please understand I really appreciate Tim's time and efforts in creating Plan-G.
The above are only my "wishes" and in no way will stop me from using Plan-G.

But Tim, if there is Plan-G future update list.. please ad the two items above to that list.

Thanks,
D-Man

Greetings Tim...

It might be me but having an download-able and updated manual on this site is almost a no brainer. I'm sure we'll all get use of it.

Plan-G / Downloadable Plan-G Manual?
December 13, 2010, 05:52:12 PM
Greetings all,

I just stumbled on Plan-G an will be loading it after work today. Looks like a great tool!

My question is... the Plan-G Manual (104 pages I understand) is it available for download outside of the installation?

Love to get a heads-up of the features prior to loading it tonight.

Thanks in advance,
