If you can find an addon for FS with more up to date airspace, just install it and Plan-G will pick it up. But I've never seen an airspace update...
A bit out of date I know, but I've redone the entire airspace for the UK compliant with the current uk eAIP....

Plan-G / Feature Request: Airspace display on map
January 21, 2015, 06:45:04 AM
Hi Tim,

I'm working my way through a project to update a lot of the airspace data using accurate into from the UK AIP.  I'm finding that there's a LOT of overlaid info, such as altimeter setting regions, FIR regions, all the class A and upper airspace, updated danger/warning/training/military stuff etc.

So much so that the display can easily get very cluttered very quickly and the shading where the lower limit is the surface starts to get quite obstructive.

At the moment, there are only ICAO, Centre, RDPM and Special Use airspace categories.  Would it be possible to allow users to define what data is shown more flexibly please, by perhaps having subdivisions within those?  For example, in ICAO, I would be able to determine if I didn't want ASRs, or FIRs, or any individual class of data?  In RDPM, I would like to select which if any of those I would like to display?   Would it be possible to specify a particular altitude range and only display airspace that affects that range? (perhaps it could be tied to a generated flightplan, so PlanG would then if selected only show the airspace that was directly relevant to the planned flight?

Also, to mitigate the issue of many different boundary areas overlapping, causing very dark shading and potentially obscuring information, would it be possible to let users determine the colour/level of shading applied to each of the airspace categories please?

Thanks K

Plan-G / Re: Belgian Airspace in Plan G

Tim, I was planning on updating some of the default data contained in BNXWorld0.bgl to be more real world accurate.  If this data be parsed into the decompiled xml it would be a quick way to update it easily?  Unfortunately I'm not up to writing code to do that so I'd have to do it all manually :(  K

Plan-G / MATZ not displayed - build 51
January 02, 2013, 11:19:25 PM
Hi Tim,

I've definitely got the MATZ download installed and rebuilt my config files, but using build 51 the MATZ zones don't show up?
V2 had the special use 1 and special use 2 airspace checkboxes, but v3 only seems to have one special use checkbox, and the MATZ zones aren't being displayed.

Is there some other way I can get them to display in v3 please?  I need them for Saturday because Dennis is taking me for my P2 test through Shawbury! :p

Cheers

What do you have User aircraft refresh rate, traffic refresh rate, range etc set to?

User refresh rate = 5s
Traffic refresh rate = 30s
Range = 100km

Forgive me if it is more complex than this, but... :p

a) PlanG already knows the track of the users flight plan, since it is plotted as a line.
b) The information box will display the current airspace description at any chosen point by simply moving the cursor there.

Should it not be possible then to break up the intended flight track into small segments, and be able to identify exactly what airspace restrictions there are for each individual segment.  All you need do then is display that vertically on the Plan Elevation window, something which you already do for MEF?

Hi Tim,
Just one suggestion that may be nice if it could possibly be implemented in a future update?
Would it be possible to include a graphical representation of airspace relevant to the users current flightplan in the Plan Elevation window at all please?
Cheers

PlanG - awesome :)

Plan-G / Re: Plan-G slows to a crawl during flights

Hi Tim,

I have experienced something similar.  I have a very good system, together with a second PC (not so good!) on which I sometimes run PlanG.  On either PC, when PlanG is run alone (as in not connected to FSX) the program runs smoothly.  Maps are pannable easily, and the mouse cursor moves smoothly.  However, when connected to FSX, my PlanG runs like it is drunk, regardless of which PC it is run on.  It seems to slow down, smooth map panning is virtually impossible, and if you right click on an item of interest it takes sometimes up to 5 seconds for the menu to appear.

One practical implication of this is that it is almost impossible to tune a nav instrument using PlanG, as the map display often updates between right clicking and the menu displaying, resulting in the menu being displayed for the updated map location, and not where the cursor was when the right button was originally clicked.  To work around this I have found I have to anticipate how the map will update and right click at an offset position depending on the heading and speed of my aircraft, together with the map scale!

If PlanG is run on my local FSX PC then it introduces very noticeable stutter to FSX, whereas if it is run on the networked PC it does not.  Consequently I tend to run it networked to eliminate unnecessary performance degradation on my FSX PC.

I must be honest, this was with build 46 and I have not yet had the opportunity to test with build 51 to see if this eliminates the problems.

Thanks

Plan-G / Re: Plan-G and OpusFSX Weather
October 21, 2012, 02:57:34 PM
Hi Tim
I think this would be a really useful feature if you could implement it. It would make realistic weather planning a breeze without having to artificially force the issue by using a waypoint that you don't actually want to.

Plan-G / Re: Ships as AI

Hi Tim, would you consider implementing this in a future release?  It would be awesome if we could take data from somewhere like http://www.shipais.com/ and incorporate real time shipping movements into FSX and Plan G? :)  OK, asking the impossible I know now but you have to aim high!

Thanks for the helpful guidance in this - I originally installed Plan G years ago but was never able to run it usefully as I always operate in full screen mode.  I recently upgraded to a better specced PC and decided to use the old one as a networked PC to run Aivlasoft EFD and Plan-G remotely.  I spent some hours investigating simconnect and trying to understand it and I now realise I was getting all confused over nothing and overcomplicating things!

I followed the guidance in this thread and it worked instantly for me :)

Thankyou :)
