with dotnet/mono opensourced by MS it should be possible to compile on Ubuntu? Would be cool. Currently I have a hard time. Tried with wine and now virtualbox. No luck so far. Can't copy x-plane.exe hence did a x-plane.exe text file but it says for half an hour to build database.
