Plan-G / Please give us version 2 back!
November 24, 2013, 07:10:38 AM
Hello Tim,

as the title says, please give us version 2 back!

v2 was stable, it always worked perfectly. Since v2 no longer can handle Google maps (it gives script errors) I have tried v3 but get problems.

First time it shut down 5 minutes before landing. Not funny at all.
When creating an user waypoint I sometimes have to do it a couple of times before it shows. But the next day they can be gone!
When hovering with the mouse over a waypoint it is 95% transparent after 5 minutes of flight.
When hovering with the mouse over a AI Aircraft it does not show anything.
Also with AI traffic on all aircraft flickers and the program gets very slow.
Sometimes I can zoom with the wheel mouse, sometimes not.
I do not like all these extra windows I have to open, plan, weather, info and so on. Why?

So I really hope you can give us v2 back again! It was one of the best addons I have used.
If Yahoo Satellite or VirtualEarth Satellite can work together with v2 it would be OK, if Google can't. Google is the best though.
If none of these works  go for MapQuest OSM.

If it ain't possible to fix v2 I want to thank you for the time I have used it and use the built in FSX map instead.

Tim had a link to Google about it in this post yesterday: http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2557.0

Google has a new version of the Java script API since Nov 19. I really hope that Tim can get the new version to work in Plan-G version 2.
I think version 2 is better. Better maps, satellite images, easier to use and completely stable.

Good news that Tim is working at v2! Now there is an error popping up all the time: file:///E:/FS/TA%20Software/Plan-G%20v2/google.html, and it freezes.
Like Hans said you can't make a flight plan.
I can't see my user waypoints from zoom 9 and out.

But I am sure Tim will fix this also.

Thank you Tim for the link to the SDF-Viewer. I read about google maps api v3 and it looks great. Up to 25 000 map loads each day is free. Is it possible to use that one? (I hope so..)

Anyway, my user waypoints are in place.  :)

Thank you!

Hello,

since yesterday Plan-g v2.05 does not work. Log says: GBrowserIsCompatible function not found!! There were other scripts warnings too.
I like version 2 for the Google maps, they are very good when making airports with ADEX. For that purpose the new maps are useless.

Now I installed version 3 and the readme says "NOTE: If you have created or imported user waypoints, please export them to a csv file, (see manual, section 7.4.6) BEFORE installing the new version of Plan-G, then re-import them once you have installed the new release". How can I export them to csv when Plan-G does not start? Is it possible to convert my UserWaypoints.sdf in any way? I have hundreds of notes there.  :(

Thank you for a VERY good flight planner!
