Plan-G / Plan-G in FSX SE Steam
March 03, 2015, 04:02:06 PM
I have been dabbling with FSX Steam. Plan G seems to have a minor (?) problem.

The User Aircraft icon, the little yellow airplane, refreshes only every 40-45 seconds or so. It is set in the Options area to 5 seconds.

The same flight plan in FSX is OK.

Plan-G / Subscription map service
November 10, 2014, 06:46:14 PM
The latest Build 94 shows an option to use an external subscription map service.

I have never seen where this option might be available. Any advice? Thanks

Thanks. I had never connected User Aircraft being the Yellow Airplane. Now I see that F6 resolves the same problem.

Re the song. I has it mentally tied to The Yellow Submarine, which has a somewhat different beat.

Plan-G / No yellow airplabe
August 18, 2014, 01:19:24 PM
Following a re-install of FSX and the latest Plan G v3, the yellow airplane on  the flight plan map has disappeared. FSX Acceleration, FSDUIPC connection, map selector locked, the beeper for connect/disconnect OK, map does not center up or lock. AI traffic shows up OK. Everything else seems normal.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Plan-G / Re: Plan G Opens off screen?
May 31, 2014, 03:35:00 PM
I normally run Plan G on my second screen while flying, but I move it back to the main screen for editing etc.  MS key + L or R arrow. If I leave Plan G on the second screen when I shut down, it opens on that screen again next time I start up. If the power on the second screen is off, you won't see Plan G although the icon shows in the task bar.

Plan-G / Location of DEM files
April 03, 2014, 06:23:10 PM
I have installed the latest version of Plan G, but was unable to get Plan Elevation working.  FSX and Plan G are not installed in the default location, but in a separate partition.  Finally tracked down the empty DEM folder in C ....' documents etc ... Copied in the DEM files and now it works, but my C drive is close to the overload point.

Is there any way that the DEM folder could be rte-located? Thanks

Plan-G / Re: V2 vs V3

I edit in v2 because of an easier way-point drag and drop system, , but usually fly with v3.

I have noticed further that any flight plan westbound from North A America that crosses the date line  reverses and goes the other way. Not actually the date line, the limit of the single world map as shown in V3.  V2 has multiple world maps.

Or maybe it proves that the Flat Earth Society is right. If you go too far in any direction you simply drop over the edge.

Oh yes. I have the latest v50 update.

I haven't tried it yet, but since the flight plan chart is correct, I assume that the aircraft would head in that direction. Only the map display would be wrong. But this is just a guess on my part.

Same problem on a shorter flight from PANC to one of the few Siberian airports. I also re-built the data base hoping that some more  airports would show up. No luck.

Plan-G / Strange V3 performance
October 13, 2012, 04:33:52 PM
I tried to do a flight plan in V3 from PANC Anchorage to JRTT Tokyo, then elsewhere. V3 insisted that the flight plan be eastbound at a track of about 100º or so. The flight plan chart chows a track of 248º and a distance of 3003 nm.

I opened up the same flight plan in V2 and things were what I expected - a track of 248º abd the same distance of 2002 nm.

The flight plan is attached. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I do my editing in V2, then switch to V3 for flying. I guess this work-around won't last forever though.

Plan-G / Importing kmz files
July 26, 2012, 08:00:02 PM
A search reveals that build 493 includes a tick box to permit the import of kmz files.

I can't locate this feature. Where should I look for it? Thanks.

Plan-G / Orbx NRM data update for Plan-G
May 04, 2012, 02:49:42 PM
Orbx has issued a Plan-G data base update for their Northern Rocky Mountain area. About 200 airstrips, POIs etc.

Plan-G / Re: Error during importing CSV file
April 25, 2012, 03:11:53 PM
I ran into something similar several months ago.

I found that .csv files can come in several flavours. In my case the original that I was importing was created in a very old version of Excel and saved in the .csv format of that era. It simply could not be used in Plan-G. And I was remarkably unsuccessful in opening it in my much newer version of Excel and saving it again as a .csv file that would work.

Oops. One more thing.

You have to be in the air before you turn on the A/P.
