Hi Tim, now I feel totally stupid. I right clicked on the application icon, thinking maybe some how run as administrator became unchecked. It didn't, but there was an option to start Plan-G in a low res mode ( 640 x 860 I think) some how that box became "checked" .... unchecked it and all is well again. Another D'Oh! moment brought to you bu Pugle ....

Could be Tim, although The flight planner is the only app causing this to happen. It's not a big deal, though. I just resize the screen. Sometimes a second click on one of the tabs or buttons causes the resolution to change again, but resetting the res a second time seems to take care of the problem. There are no more "resizing" events after that. As you daid. it could be a driver issue. I just thought you might have an idea what may be causing it. I'll have to experiment a bit and see.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

Hi Tim,

This just started happening in the last day or so. When I start up Plan G, the screen res automatically changes to 640 x 480. It never used to do this before. I can go to the screen settings and change it back to the 1280 x 1024 that I normally use, but sometimes the screen res changes again just clicking on a feature in Plan G. Any idea what may be causing this?

Thanks

Hi Tim,

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I've got everything working fine now except for printing the flight plan. I tried the clearallsettings.exe as you suggested, but I'm still getting the "Error" message. It says "illegal characters in the PLOG" ....
I think I sent you a copy of that before. My printer works fine for everything else, but it just doesn't seem to want to communicate with
Plan G.

Oh well .... that's a minor issue. The program works great otherwise, and I'm very happy with it. I went back to the older version while trying to sort the issues with this newest version, but after having the newer version, it just wasn't the same. But, at least everything is working now ( except for printing ). I'm still keeping the first version as back-up though.

Tim, I love this program, and I've recomended it to several friends. Thanks so much for this awesome flight planning tool.

Thanks Tim. I'll give that a shot and see what happens when I get a chance. In the mean time, using the original version. I kept it as a back-up, and it's working fine.

Hi Tim,

Here's the flight plan I was using. It was FSX's .pln format, not the new .plg format, but was created on the newest version of Plan G. Would it be wise to save in both and run the .plg format in Plan G instead? I still have my older version of Plan G installed ( in a different location ) and it's still working fine.

Hi Tim,

Sorry to bother you again. Attatched is a screen capture of the error message I'm now getting for printing. It's the same whether for plan, map or elevation. Turning off the weather reporting in Plan G options had no effect.

Hi TIm,

Thanks for the reply. I meant the plan panel and said info panel meaning the flight plan part. When I right click on an airport in the plan, I'm getting no drop down list so as to be able to add another airport into the plan or to edit it. Will try your suggestion about the weather.

Thanks again.

Plan-G / Multiple problems - Resolved
February 05, 2012, 08:47:15 PM
Hi TIm,

I had no problems with the previous version of Plan G, but I'm having many problems with .493.

Just to let you know first off, I followed all the install instructions ( away from c:\ programs, renamed the older version, built new data base with no saved waypoints etc... )

So here's the short list:

Right click fails to issue a drop down list on the info panel ( select active leg, add / remove waypoints etc)
Wx update button on the info panel only closes or opens the weather dialog
Plan G often crashes to desktop and when it doesn't CTD it often freezes causing a "stop running scripts" messege.
I can preview print of flight plan, but the printer only spits out a blank page .... and when selecting quick print, I get an "illegal characters in path" messege.

I love the features of this new version, but I just can't get it to run without these problems.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times with the same results.

Running Vista and installed and run the program as administrator. Please help! .. This program is to valuable to not have.

Thanks so much for all you do Tim. I've attatched the Plan G log.

Plan-G / Is SP2 required to use the newest version?
December 16, 2011, 12:41:53 AM
Sorry if this has been asked already, but I can't seem to find the answer in posts or the FAQ's section. Many of my friends fly using SP1, so I also use SP1. Just wondering if SP2 is required or not. I'm still currently using V0.9.1.423. I like this version but I'm wanting to give the newest version a try.

Thanks,

Paul

Sorry.. Forgot to mention, I think the add-on was for LSZF ( Switzerland I think). I deleted it and rebuilt the data base. Checked the log for errors and none were found... If you have a scenery file issue, it will show in the Plan_G log file. It'll show as an error. That's how I found out which file it was.

Cockpit Chatter / Re: User Names in Multi-player
May 24, 2010, 04:29:57 PM
Hi Tim,

Even to manually put in player names would be a great feature.
A lot of the time when flying in multi player, my friends and I fly the same or similar planes (some even with the same reg#).

I know the reg# can be changed when entering the session, but it would be so handy to just see a name assigned to an aircraft at a quick glance.

and finally... thanks for your help with my forum signature.

Cheers!

Plan-G / Re: How to use Plan-G

I too preffer Full Screen mode in FSX, but when using Plan G I just live with flying in windowed mode. The benefit of being able to use a great tool like Plan G totally outweighs the fact that FSX has to be "windowed".
