Plan-G / Re: Database build skips some airports
December 07, 2010, 08:49:08 PM
Hi Folks

SAPilot -
I'd understood you were trying to explain,
but I've obviously not replied clearly enough.     ;D

The only reason you have a scenery.cfg in your -
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\

Is because you
installed a scenery package
as being for - "Just Me"
rather than for - "Everyone".

If you look at that scenery.cfg
you'll find it contains only the -
- MS default entries, (duplicated from MS's repair copy of scenery.cfg, stashed in FSX root).
- Any scenery packages you'd installed as being for - "Just Me"

When I'd said -
QuoteNothing should ever be installed to -

What I was trying to say was -
QuoteNo user should ever install any FS-addon as being for - "Just Me"

Hope thats sufficiently clear now.      ;D

Plan-G / Re: Database build skips some airports
December 06, 2010, 11:13:48 PM
Hi Folks

Quote from: SAPilot on December 06, 2010, 10:34:29 PMI had a similar problem. Missing one airport which is not a defult FSX airport but an add-on airport.

Changed the location of the scenery config file to :
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

instead of
C:\Documents and Settings\myname\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

Rebuilt the database and the airport now shows.

It would appear, in my case, that the scenery config file Plan-G needs is in the  \All Users\   path.
SAPilot -
This is nothing whatsoever to do with Plan-G !     ;D

Please see the FSX readme file in your FSX root folder.

In FSX,
it is mandatory that all scenery is installed using -
- The All Users account, (i.e. for everyone, not just the current user).
- An account with admin permissions.

Actually applies to all addons, (scenery and aircraft).

Nothing should ever be installed to -
C:\Documents and Settings\myname\whatever     ;D

Plan-G / Re: FSX database problem

Hi Folks

Lucevan -
Owner == Your profile, (or manufacturer's default profile name)

The "All Users" profile should exist on Vista.

Try running as admin.

Hi Folks

As these are apparently "package-only" versions,
it sounds like you've installed those packages without running as admin.

Hence you're seeing a partial version scenery.cfg
stored in your own profile,
rather than FSX's active scenery.cfg, (from All Users profile).

In FSX
it is mandatory that all scenery addons are installed from an admin account.

Just in case -

FSX's active scenery.cfg
is located in the "All Users" profile.

e.g. for XP -
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\

Do not use the one in -
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\
as it's Microsoft's emergency version for repairs only !
It should contain no addon entries whatsoever.

Hi Folks

Tim -
Suggestion for inclusion in a future version,
particularly relevant to lower spec PC users.

Any chance please of including
a toggle ALL overlays on/off button
to allow the user to move around the map more easily
without having to wait for unnescessary overlay redraws.

Mant thanks

Hi Folks

Tim -
re: The sample offshore airspace boundaries I'd previously sent you.

Some info not included previously
as I had to confirm against the active/scanned folders.

The HPZ's all show up very nicely.

However none of those ATSU sample areas are being displayed.

Are they working for you ?

PS
Also have an odd incomplete triangle displaying
midway between Duncansby Head and Norway.
Infopanel data indicates - Center SFC - 8500.

Hi Folks

Tim -
I had same airspaces not being displayed  issue,
which still persisted after two clean installs and database rebuilds.

Using a laptop, and hibernating/standby.

Only following a full reboot,
(or possibly some other unknown factor),
were the airspaces displayed.

Plan-G / Feedback - v0.8.1.389 - Processor Loading
November 29, 2009, 12:52:00 PM
Hi Folks

Tim -
I'm seeing Plan-G hit 36% processor utilisation every 5 seconds.

This is without FSX running,
and without any active use of Plan-G,
and even occurs with Plan-G minimised.

Is there any need for updating/activity when in these modes ?

It doesn't occur with ordinary googlemap mashups.

November 29, 2009, 12:11:35 PM
Hi Folks

Tim -
Airspace boundaries contained in addon bgls are not being processed.

In a future version
could you please incorporate these.

I can email some sample files for testing.

Plan-G / Feedback - v0.8.1.389 - Build Database - Content
November 29, 2009, 12:06:22 PM
Hi Folks

Tim -
When decoding airports, and compiling the database.
"Airports" without runways are being dropped entirely.
i.e.
Those containing only a set of "Start Points".

They're valid in all aspects of FSX.

Can these be included please ?
