Plan-G / Re: [Wishlist] Toolbar for touchscreen users?

Do you have an example?
Well it was really the free/sync/lock modes that were on my mind. I guess it depends on what functions get added in the future - for example, a 'toggle all airspace'  button might be useful, or other temporary de-clutter buttons. On the other hand, the map features are already quite accessible as the ribbon is already fairly touchscreen-friendly.

That's in 0.9 (coming within the next few days...)  :)
Thanks Tim, looking forward to it.

Plan-G / [Wishlist] Finessing 'Free/sync/lock' modes
January 09, 2010, 06:20:24 PM
It's great that I can drag the map to see what's off the edge, but in 'lock' or 'sync' mode it snaps back in a couple of seconds, which is inconvenient. 'Free' mode is fine, but then I can get lost and not be able to find my current position (so I have to switch back to 'sync' or 'lock' mode). I would find each of the following helpful:

(1) To have the free/sync/lock toggles on-screen all the time (on a toolbar, say), so I could flip back and forwards quickly when I want to browse the map.
(2) To have a 'centre aircraft' button (again, ideally on a toolbar) for use in 'free' or 'sync' modes.

Ta!

Plan-G / [Wishlist] Toolbar for touchscreen users?

It would be great to have a user-configurable toolbar for adding common tasks to. Sort of an extension of the main client area (Google Maps), which is already very touchscreen-friendly.

Plan-G / Re: 2nd Monitor just for Plan-G questions?

I'd look for power-saving options in Windows and possibly the BIOS, and try fiddling or turning them off.

Thanks both, some things to think about there.

Ah, okay. I had thought of adding a dummy leg but it never occurred to me to delete it! I still think it might be a useful option for those who want to fly from little airstrips. Can an FSX flight plan even include user-defined waypoints? My experience is that when flying out of little OZx strips and the like I just can't use the GPS. I don't know if the FSX flight planning has any other use than loading a route into the GPS, so this might be more important than I'm getting.

Plan-G / Start plan from user waypoint?

I can't see how to do this. If I right-click on one of the OZx airstrips, I don't get the 'start flightplan at airport x' option. Is this possible?

I connected a second monitor and extended my desktop onto it, but although I can drag the Plan-G window onto it I can't resize the window to be wider than a single monitor. I had hoped to extend the window across the width of both monitors so I could have the map on one monitor and the Info panel on the other.

Hoping you can fix this at some point...

And the ribbon bar at the top can be collapsed, too - use the down-arrow button in the Quick Access bar at the top.
Yes, you can assume I have explored all the obvious ways of de-cluttering the screen! But I wonder if there might be room for other useful options? For example, a 'full-screen' mode, hiding the menu bar (like in FSX), hiding the status bar?

Brilliant! Thanks for that.

Plan-G / De-clutter options for smaller screens?
December 12, 2009, 06:28:48 PM
Just got Plan-G up and running on a networked PC, and it looks great! I have a particular interest in running it on an 800x600 screen, as I have a couple of touch-screens sourced from eBay and I hope to use Plan-G as a sort of super-GPS for FSX, but on its own dedicated screen, without any frame hit and without a mouse. So far it looks good and is tolerable at this low resolution, except that the screen 'furniture' becomes a bit more significant.

So... I'm wondering if it might be useful to add some options for reducing the encroachment of the various toolbars, info bars and particularly the Info panel. I see I can resize the latter, though it might be better if there was a show/hide button. Also an option to display it horizontally, as the vertical format makes the flight plan grid not so much use when the panel is sized small.

Anyway, just some thoughts. I'm looking forward to giving the program a proper work-out!
