I had Water selected in User waypoints, but I had Floatplane Bases UNticked in Map settings. All OK now. :-)

The log doesn't mention scenery.cfg anywhere.  I have PG pointing to C:\ProgramDataMicrost\FSX as I have always done.

I haven't been flying floatplanes for a while, but I am embarking on a project to create water runways in the Maldives.  However, my new runways, created with ADE1.65 don't show on PG (after a dababase build), but then I find that all the FSX built in ones don't either.  Any ideas, Tim? 

My new "floatplane airports" are only water runways at present, no other objects.  They display on the FSX map and I can build them into pln files from within FSX.

There is an issue I find with several addon programs run in a window overlaid on FSX (e.g. FSAcars).  FSX interefers with the ability to enter text or select a dropdown option in the overlaid addon.  The solution is to minimise FSX, then make the change, then reopen the fsx window.  have you tried minimising FSX, then drag the handles, then restore the FSX window?  If that fixes your problem - it is an FSX transparency issue, not a Plan-G issue.

I run PG on XP, Vista and Win 7/64 machines.  On my main system I have PG on a second PC running XP and use a KavoomKM software KM switch.  I built the database across the network from the PC running PG, not the one running FS.  Network is cable not wireless.  All with no issues.

I have started work on the English Manual for 3.1.  It's an update operation, not a re-write, so hopefully it won't be too long coming.

You are right. The Plan Elevation tickbox is on the View Ribbon, not the Home Ribbon as it says in the manual.

Accoring to the Plan-G Manual, the valid port range is 5400 to 5410 only, so your port 8000 ought not to work anyway. Since I wrote the Manual, someone must have given me the valid port range.  (Tim?)

THis happens to me sometimes.  When the sim crashes, SimConnect loses its connection to your laptop. Rebooting the FSX PC is the only solution which has ever worked for me.  Sometimes when I boot up both PCs Simconnect fails to "take" and i have to do it again. The usual symptom of this is that my Goflight radios all read 100.00

I found that using Network Drive letters Z:, Y: etc., isn't always straightforward.  in order for them to be recognised by the other PC, I have to open the folder first. So on the Plan G PC trying to access the network drive located on the FSX PC, I open up "Network" then double click Z:\ which opens the network drive folder on the FSX PC.  I close the folder again, and after that Plan-G and FSX will talk to each other.  This is Windows XP though.

Oddly, I don't have to do this if I want to connect Plan-G to my FS9 PC - it just works.  The FS9 PC is also Windows XP.

I have about 10-12 devices on my LAN - PCs, ipAD, iPODs, Playstation3, laptops. I have no trouble with my network connections, ever, because every device has a fixed IP address. Naturally I need to keep a log of what they are!  :)

I would always recommend using fixed IP addresses for all devices, not just the FS PC, rather than leaving it to DHCP. I'll try and remember to put a section in the PG3 manual about setting up fixed IP addresses.

The tile b10g is the one which covers most of the UK.  It is 101,250Kb in size on my PC, as downloaded and unzipped.  It was that file which I used to create the flight plan in the manual.

The manual text is:
"That is some mountain (in UK terms anyway) 24 nautical miles en route.  Move the mouse pointer and find the highest point of the mountain, the Maximum Elevation Figure (MEF) and the Suggested Altitude)....  You should get 2605, 2994 and 3959 feet respectively."

Revisiting the plan as I write this, On my elevation diagram, I get 2605 at 24nm, (the first of 2 peaks) the MEF (red dotted line) is 3000ft at the scale I have set at the moment, and the Suggested Altitude (the orange solid line) is 4000ft. Those three values are thus consistent with the text in the manual. The minor errors in the second 2 figures may be down to mouse position error and using a different vertical scale now than when I wrote the manual.

My Keswick waypoint is at 54.60031128 latitude and -3.137969971 by the way.

The plan of course is intended to be illustrative of the technique rather than to be accurate to a few feet.  Perhaps a health warning is needed  in the next version of the manual as you suggest.

I will look at the point you make about page 69. It is all too easy to skip vital points when familiar with a subject - a complaint I am always making about other manual writers!  :)
