Doh! I was even in those screens looking and didn't see them, but I guess I didn't know what they were called. Seems obvious now. Thanks again Tim.

I tried out the new version of Plan-G on my new computer I really like it, it worked great. One thing though is I had some pop-ups with notifying sounds appear on my monitor a couple times as I got close to my destination. Is there a way to turn these off? I swear I looked through the Plan-G manual and didn't see it. Thanks.

That's just great Tim, works like a charm. Thank you!

Two questions please.

1- I run Plan-G on a second monitor and anytime I mouse click on the map it automatically pauses FSX. Now going back many years on my old computer I thought there was a way to turn that off so that when you click on the map it won't pause FSX? If I remember correctly I lost the sound in the sim until I clicked back on the FSX monitor, but the sim continued to run without automatically pausing.

2- This new version of Plan G 3.1.2 is a little different from my old one. Anyway when I try to create a flight Plan in Plan-G by clicking on the flight plan button in the quick ribbon up top (the manual says it's supposed to be the white icon just to the right of the Plan-G icon in the top left corner), nothing happens.  Also if I try the second method in the manual of clicking on the green file tab > new plan, the screen just goes back to the map being displayed. Anybody know why this might be happening.

Thank you.

I see, thanks Tim.

Sorry Tim I'm not sure what the google switchoff is?

FWIW when I use google maps outside of Plan-G the scale bar is down in the left lower corner and it changes according to my zoom, but it's not there when I open Plan-G anymore.

Nobody? Pretty please, with sugar on top. LOL

Plan-G / "Scale" bar in lower left corner is now missing.

I have version 0.8.1.389. Plan-G has worked great for years, but I noticed two strange things recently. First is my little scale or distance bar in the left lower corner of the map ( 2, 5, 10, 20 miles etc) is gone so I don't know how far distances are on the map?

The second item is I can no longer right click on a particular airport on the map to start a flight plan and in turn right click on other airports to add them to the plan.

Not sure if these two issues are related, but appeard to happen at the same time. Any ideas? Thanks.

I tried to disable AVG, but can't, as there seems to be a problem. It doesn't function right now and I can't do anything with it. I tried to remove it alltogether and can't as it gets some wierd error and says it can't remove it. I then went to AVG website and used their own removal tool program which won't remove it either. So I have an antivirus program that worked for several months, but now doesn't function, can't be updated, and can't be removed.  I see there are others online also having issues trying to remove it. Funny thing is they keep asking if I want to buy their product. Ya right....

The good news is after hours of messing around around trying to sort out the AVG issues my stuff my Plan-G seems to start up now and the map is displayed. I will try it out this week and see how it works, but I expect it will. I don't even know what I did to get it to work.

Anyway thanks Tim. I will continue on the AVG isseues when time permits.

Plan-G / Plan-G V0.8.1 won't work start up anymore?
September 24, 2010, 04:33:11 AM
My Plan-G has worked great for the last year or so since I installed it, up until now. The initial screen of Plan-G loads but when it would be time to display the map I get a window that pops up saying "Plan-G is unable to launch the googlemaps interface, please check" and it lists these items:
- my Internet Explorer has not changed but I don't know what version it is, again plan-g worked for a year now
- I checked that my Java script, Active X, and Binary Behaviours are all enabled
- I cleared the browser cache
- last it mentions check your security settings (and maybe thats my problem) as I'm not sure what to do here, and I'm not good with computers.

At this time I will mention one change that was made with my computer. My free AVG antivirus program did not seem to scan this last time I tried it so I unistalled it through the add/remove control panel and reinstalled the latest free version again. I then ran a virus scan, spybot scan, and malaware scan and no issues were detected. I did ran the defrag and also verified that my google maps program works just fine.

Any ideas what might be happening? Should I delete the AVG antivirus altogether and see what happens? Thanks.

Wow Tim, that is very nice of you to offer. However, I tried Tom's suggestion and it works like a charm. I just hit the load flight button a second time and all the waypoints showed up. GREAT!!!

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

Yes , when I create the flight plans from within FSX it works great, all waypoints show up in the FSX GPS and the FSX World Map as well as Plan-G map. But when I create a flight plan in Plan-G the waypoints don't show up in the FSX GPS or the FSX World Map. Now although the waypoints don't show (just a direct route to destination) the Dep and Arrival airports do including the departure gate I had chosen when I created the flight plan in Plan-G.

I could create all my flight plans in FSX first, but my preference is to do them in Plan-G because its a much nicer program and easier to use.

Just guessing but maybe I should try to unistall and re-install Plan-G?

I tried something different. I loaded the flight in FSX first with waypoints and to the point where my aircraft was parked at the departure gate. Then I started Plan-G and connected and loaded the flight in Plan-G, all my waypoints were there and my flight path. I completed the flight with Plan-G and it worked great.

One thing I noticed (don't know if it means anything) but when I save a flight plan in FSX it ends with .PLN in capitol letters. When I save a  flight in Plan-G it ends in .pln small letters. Also when I looked at flight plans I had saved before the CPU upgrade that were done in Plan-G they used to end in .PLN  but when I load those flights they appear in FSX with no waypoints and just a direct route. So maybe then .PLN or .pln does not matter.

I upgraded my CPU the other day but have noticed something strange since then. I draw up my flight plan in Plan-G with waypoints etc, save, then I load that flight in FSX. The Dep and Arr airports show up in FSX but none of the waypoints, it's always a direct GPS looking route that shows up in FSX. Prior to this upgrade I'm cetain all the waypoints showed up. I even loaded up a previous flight in Plan-G which had waypoints, and then loaded it in FSX and the waypoints are gone.

Although I was told the CPU upgrade was straight forward, maybe it messed somthing up. Any ideas?
