Plan-G / Re: Screen display
November 30, 2010, 11:31:40 PM
Just to see what happened, I upgraded to IE8.
Didn't make any difference.
Problem is the same on my laptop, which is networked to the desktop where the sim is.
Laptop also has Firefox and XP.

This is not a problem for me as all I need to do is minimize and maximize and all is well.

Thanks again for the great program.

The IE version number is 6.0.2900.
I see version 8 in the windows update.    I just have not bothered with it because I was using Firefox. ;D

I am having the same problem.
FSX
I am using Firefox as my browser and have not updated to the newer internet explorer browser.
Wonder if this could be causing the problems?

Thanks for the great product.   Have just started playing with it, but so far seems to perform as advertised.
Thanks again.

Plan-G / Plan-G error when changing airports
April 09, 2010, 05:42:43 PM
I have Plan-G on my desktop with FSX plus on my laptop, both connected to Plan-G via SimConnect.

When I have Plan-G connected to the flight sim via SimConnect and I change airports through the menu in FSX Plan-G develops some sort of error and shuts down.

This happens on both the desktop and laptop.

I was just wondering if this is normal?

It definitely is not a problem as all I have to do is disconnect Plan-G when I change airports and then reconnect.

A great program.
Many thanks for all the work.

Plan-G / Re: Crash to Reboot
March 15, 2010, 04:42:04 PM
Hi Tim.
Have another question.

Is there a file that is common to both Plan-G, FSX and Google earth?

This problem of crashing to reboot seems very strange.

I have re-installed Google Earth and the problem went away for a few days, then came back.

I re-installed FSX , SP1 and installed SP2.  Again the problem went away for a few days and suddenly started happening again.

Starting a new Plan-G seems to only remove the problem for a couple of shutdowns.

Just wondering if there is some common denominator causing this problem.

Thanks for your help.

Got it to connect. ;D

Couldn't get it to work so decided to install SDK.msi.  Guess this is the latest SDK.

Network Mode:      IPv4
FSX Computer:      Blank
Server Port/Pipe:  0

Got a connection. :o

Now I need to figure out how to get it to work on my laptop. :'( :'( ::)

Plan-G / Need Information
January 25, 2010, 09:29:44 PM
To try and get Plan-G working with FSX SimConnect I have done the following.   (Windows XP.  All updates and Net Frameworks installed.)

Uninstalled FSX, FSX-SDK and deleted folders.
Did disk defrag.

Installed FSX and registered.
Installed FSX-SDK
Installed SP1
Installed SDK SP1a
Installed SP2

Question 1:
I have BeatlesBlog.SimConnect.SDK.Beta3 but am not sure what to do with it.   Can't find any information on installation.
Should it go in the SDK folder?

Question 2:
Is there anything else that I need to install to get Plan-G and SimConnect to work?   Previously I was given information that I needed SP2.    Now I see in one of the posts that SP2/Acceleration is needed.

I hope Acceleration is not also needed, just don't have the dollars right now.

Thanks for the help.

ADDED - Just discovered a file SDK.msi.   If I read correctly this is an upgrade to SDK SP1a.  Is this correct or is it not needed?

Plan-G / Re: Crash to Reboot
January 04, 2010, 05:55:56 PM
Tim:
Tried these steps.
Changed Plan-G to connect with FSUIPC.
Removed all the FSUIPC files from the flight sim.
Loaded both programs.
Shut down Plan-G
Crash to reboot.

Tried the same thing with FSUIPC files in the flight sim and had crash to boot.

Went to the SimConnect SDK folder and renamed it XSimConnect SDK.
Reloaded programs and shut down Plan-G.    Crashed to reboot.

This is taken from the system events log.
Type: XError  Source: SidebySide

General Activation Content failed for C:\\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC.dll.  Reference error message:  The operation completed successfully.

I hate being outwitted by a machine.
I also hate computers. >:(

At least I can still get around the problem by shutting the sim down first.
I was planning on networking my laptop and putting Plan-G on it.   Maybe this problem will go away then.

Thanks for you time Tim.

Plan-G / Crash to Reboot
January 04, 2010, 03:20:53 AM
I have still been trying to figure out why I get the crash to reboot if I shut down  Plan-G before I shut down the simulator.

I was under the impression that the two programs are not connected except for FSUIPC.

I tried a little experiment and removed FSUIPC from the flight sim.
Loaded up FSX and Plan-G.
When I shut down Plan-G I still get the crash to reboot.

Unless the two programs are somehow using a common file this seems very strange.

Like I said before, if I shut down the sim first there is no problem.  Unfortunately some times I forget and bang. :-[

Is there any chance that this could have anything to do with FSX only having SP1 while Plan-G uses something in SP2?

Wonder if SimConnect Tool would make it possible to make the connection even if one only have SP1 installed in the flight simulator?

Thanks for the info.
Guess I will have to bite the bullet and install SP2 and see what happens.
I guess if I don't like the sim that way I can always reinstall it.
Thanks again.

Both the FSX and Plan-G are on the same computer.

FSUIPC4 is not a registered version.    I just removed it from the sim and had the same problem with Plan-G.
When the computer crashes there is a whole blue page message that flashes for a second.    Don't have time to read it before it is gone.

Also found this in the event recorder:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbf0f6db2, 0xb4d73474, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini121709-02.dmp.

As for SimConnect guess the version of FSX could be the problem.  I only have SP1 installed.   I do have some port overs (Shupe's planes) that I really like and thought I would probably loose them with SP2/Acceleration.

Below is part of the Plan-G log:

Plan-G / Unusual Crash
December 17, 2009, 05:41:20 AM
Have just started using Plan-G and so far it looks great.   All the hard work very much appreciated. :D

Actually have a couple of problems.

First one is bit unusual, I think.  This is what is happening.

I load FSX  or Plan-G   -    Problem happens no matter which one I load first.
So, both programs are loaded.
This problem happens whether I connect or do not connect to FSX.

Now if I try and shut down Plan-G I get a crash to reboot.
However, if I shut down FSX first, then shut down Plan-G, it does not crash.

The error message in the Event View/System is as follows:

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\FSUIPC4.dll. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

Just thought I would bring this up as obviously I can shut down FSX first and not have a problem.

I hate to bring up this next problem, but here goes.

SimConnect
Can't seem to get it connected.   I know it is is installed and working as I use "Object Placement Tool" in the flight sim.  However the error message in the Event Viewer is as follows:

Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

I really didn't want to reinstall SimConnect again and go through all the work of getting "Object Placement Tool" to work again.

I can connect with FSUIPC4, however I was hoping to network my laptop to my desktop and run Plan-G on the laptop.    It looks to be a lot more complicated to do this with FSUIPC.
I was just hoping someone might have a couple of ideas to cure this one.

Unfortunately I am not computer literate.   Even computers for Dummies is over my head.

Irvin

PS.   Re SimConnect.
I have IPv6 installed.   When I try and connect with it Plan-G looks like it is going to work but then gives me an error as follows:
Unable to connect to remote simulator.  Time Out.
