Can you also post the Simconnect.xml files from the two FS PCs?

So it looks like the router is not allowing traffic on that port to pass through on the internal network, but it will pass outside the network.  Any clues?

Plan-G / Re: Simconnect timeout again
February 11, 2011, 02:57:44 PM
yes it has been static at 192.168.1.100.  I also attempted to disable NAT and that didn't work.  I ran a Net Activity checker on both the desktop and the laptop while launching Plan G and saw no activity on port 4506.  I also used PFChecker on desktop with router set to forward port 4506 to desktop it showed open and then checked laptop without changing router and the port showed closed so ran PFChecker on laptop after forwarding port to laptop, which also has a static IP and it showed open.  So I can get from the outside to both computers, but not to each computer on that port.  What should I see in the simconnect log file when I start FSX?  I don't see anything about simconnect.xml even being recognized.  Also when I run netstat -ao | find/i I don't see any listening being done on port 4506 on the desktop.  Should I when FSX is running?  I'm going to try to set up connection between laptops and see if it works.  I'll let you know, but in the meantime if you can paste typical log files so I can compare maybe I can figure this out.

One more thing.  I deleted the loopback adapter on all my computers.  Would that make a difference.  I installed it for using FSINN, but I don't use that anymore.

Plan-G / Simconnect timeout again
February 10, 2011, 06:01:46 PM
Thanks for this great program, but run into a snag.  A month ago everything worked fine, but haven't used it till I installed the new update 2.03.  Now I can't connect across network as I have before.  Two days of research and no joy.
FSX flying on XP Pro SP3
Plan G on laptop XP Home
Connects OK on flying computer but won't across network

Connected by Simconnect IPv4 through E1000 router.  No firewall or virus checkers on anything.
Changes in last month.  Install VRS Superbug, AICarriers2, Arrestor Cables, COP3
Had to replace router that was lynksys modified with tomato now is cisco E1000 no mods all firewall off and port 4506 forwards both.

paste of simconnect.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0">
<Descr>SimConnect</Descr>
<Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename>
<SimConnect.Comm>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>

<MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
<Port>4506</Port>
<MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize>
<DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle>
</SimConnect.Comm>

I tried using computer name also, but didn't use //, should I?

Setup in Plan-G is IPv4, 192.168.1.100, 4506

Error is Unable to connect with timeout.  I see no attempts made through router on port 4506 and see nothing in plan g log except remote connection timed out and nothing in simconnect log set on error or normal or verbose.

I attempted to connect from another laptop that had not been modified since it worked and still had version .9 on it and it gave same error.  So I assume it is not the Plan G installation it is something in between.  I suspect something on my router isn't set correctly so what am I missing?  One connection attempt was wireless and the other hardwired.

I tried a netstat -ao | find/i "established" and other forms of netstat and didn't see any indication that simconnect was listening on port 4506.  I don't know if I should though.

Any ideas?

I don't know if this helps any, but I loaded another program that uses the same style window and GUI as Plan-G, O&O Defrag.  The window resizing and upper right icons ws work OK on it and the only difference is the red mouseover that you have on yours.  So as I see it the problem is not with the interaction of the window interface with the computer.unless the color has anything to do with it.

So what is different from my desktop with XPPro and IE6 and my laptop XP Home with IE6 that I can change so it doens't interfere with the third party library?

OK I removed IE8 from laptop and it did not correct mouseover issue.  Everything except the buttons above the menu on the far right work and the resize positions on the top, left, top/left corner, and top/right corner work.  The bottom and right sides of the window will not allow resizing.  What other program would I look for that has to to do with windows.  Also I wrote this on my laptop and I do experience the same issue with running this message off the page as I do on the desktop.  When you first click reply this box is the right size but as soon as you start typing it goes off the page.

I guess I didn't make myself clear.  I am typing on my desktop and experience no problems with Plan G on the desktop, but do have issue with forum display.  The laptop I have issues with Plan G and I did test the crashing, but with this version the following occurs.  When in windowed mode and I point the mouse at the right and lower edge the program will just quit without error, whereas before it gave an error.  It still does not allow changing of the size of the window from the right and bottom, but does from top or left side.

OK I just loaded 2.02 update hoping this would resolve issues and it didn't.  On desktop no problem so far, but on laptop, XP Home with IE8 the menus do not display on initial build and they won't until I move the mouse over their location or launch a data base build.  also the icons in the upper right still do not work. I'll do further testing on the window crashing if not full screen and will let you know.  The issue with this forum has to do with the frame where you type your post, like this one.  It runs off the page and you can't see the type on the far right for about 10 or 15 characters until you preview or submit.  This is using IE6, but it doesn't matter in other versions as well.

I repaired Net Framework 4.0 on laptop and still exhibits same symptoms.  The only difference between laptop and desktop is desktop still using IE6 and laptop is XP Home with IE8.  Also did you know that the post reply window on this forum goes off the page making it difficult to see what you type on the right.  This is on desktop.

Using whatever came up default.  I don't see anywhere I can change themes.  I am using version 2.0.1.474 on both desktop and laptop.  The view on the laptop is set to windowed mode and the view on desktop is set to full screen.  When the view on the deskto firt loads it only displys the map and parts of the expansion area and the menu.  After awhile it will fill in or if I move my mouse over the missing areas it will fill in.  When I looked for the themes settings on the laptop I opened up the GPS settings and it froze after attempting to change the maximum speed.  I fly military so it is over 1000knots.  None of the buttons worked and in fact the mouse pointer would not show when it was over the Plan-G window.  The only way to shut it down was to right click on the taskbar.  I relaunched again on laptop and went to same settings and the mouse pointer disappeared for a period and then came back after a minute.   On the laptop the mouseovers work on all but the upper right area where the minimize, full page, close, ?, and minimize ribbon buttons are.  None work when clicked.  when minimized or maximized.  I can only control window by right clicking on task bar.  Peculiar thing is in full screen when I click on a menu item it reverts to windowed mode. The crashes occur randomly and are the "we are sorry can we send to MS" type.  It says EventType: clr20r3  P1: plang.exe P2: 2.0.1.474 P3: 4c1415f6 P4: fluent P5: 2.0.0.0 P6: 4cee9e4d P7: 5co P813a P9: system.nullreferenceexception

I just attempted to repeat the crash and was able to trigger it.  When Plan-G is in windowed mode you can only see the mouse window size control when you point to the upper and left sides, but when you point to the lower it is not there and when you point to the right side it crashes after awhile.  I think it has to do with the mouseovers.

Along these lines.  I too use XP Pro 32Bit on both desktop and laptop.  I connect with desktop form laptop with simconnect.

When 2.0 is first launched the upper menu does not appear till you point your mouse to it.  That is on both the laptop and the desktop.  ON my laptop the upper buttons do not work and I have to right mouse on the task bar below in order to minimize.  Connected to Gamespy mulitplayer in FSX it does not display all the players, only the host and myself.  Turn of breadcrumbs and all show up.  It's nice to have trace though.  Also it crashes for no reason and wants to send error report to Microsoft and then you have to close and restart.  This happened 8 or 9 times in 5 hours session.  I also do not have the option to expand the window at the lower right, but do at the upper right.  It also crashed one time when I was resizing the window.
