Plan-G / Re: Plan G Crashing
July 18, 2016, 10:47:07 PM
So are you saying these plan-g crashes are due to SimConnect?  Is there a way to fix?  Plan-G was working great until the Mapquest issue and I switched to OSM.

On second thought, most of the time I run Plan-G from a separate computer and connect across a network.  These crashes were occurring when running Plan-G and FSX on the same computer.  I'll do some more checking.

Thanks.

Plan-G / Plan G Crashing
July 18, 2016, 01:25:58 AM
Hello,
Seems that since I've had to switch to open street maps, Plan-G crashes more often, usually after about 30-45 minutes of use.  The error message just says Windows will send a fix or something like that...no opportunity to see at that point what caused the problem.  Could be just coincidence or something else going on.  Would appreciate any help.

I'm running Windows 7, FSX and Plan-G on same computer but FSX is on an SSD and Plan-G is on a hard drive.

I'm no expert, but looking at the plan-g log file, it appears to crash randomly during a traffic update.  The log file is attached but I also had the following 3 messages in the Windows Event Viewer that might help.

Plan-G / Re: Please give us version 2 back!

Hello Tim,

as the title says, please give us version 2 back!

v2 was stable, it always worked perfectly. Since v2 no longer can handle Google maps (it gives script errors) I have tried v3 but get problems.

...
Sometimes I can zoom with the wheel mouse, sometimes not.
I do not like all these extra windows I have to open, plan, weather, info and so on. Why?

So I really hope you can give us v2 back again! It was one of the best addons I have used.
If Yahoo Satellite or VirtualEarth Satellite can work together with v2 it would be OK, if Google can't. Google is the best though.
If none of these works  go for MapQuest OSM.

If it ain't possible to fix v2 I want to thank you for the time I have used it and use the built in FSX map instead.

/L

I agree.  Ver 2 was stable and better (IMO) and Ver 3 has been frustrating and very unstable.  I liked the docking windows in Ver 2 whereas Ver 3 opens windows all over the place with no apparent organization or docking.  I also liked being able to zoom with the mouse wheel, and as you said, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  I also cannot save a plan in Ver 3.0.7.71 without it crashing.

I installed PlanG ver 3.0.7.71 and had dot.net 4.0 (with all updates) and Plan G would not run.  Always crashed on start-up.  So I upgraded to dot.net 4.5.1.  Yea!...PlanG runs...until I went to save a plan and PlanG hangs and crashes every time.  I've yet to have one successful install of PlanG version 3 without some annoying problem that constantly crashes the program.  PlanG ver 2, albeit not as many features, worked much better, rarely crashed and the Google maps also looked much better.  I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with 16MB ram.

I have same problem too.  Just blue squares.

Would also be great if you could drag and drop waypoints anywhere in the plan instead of having to right click-move waypoint...-right click-move waypoint...etc.

Same problem here.  Sure miss the old Google maps.  They were great for VFR flying.

Still having problems with crash on startup.  Have to continually repair Dot.net installation to get plan-g to work.  Seems like right after an Adobe Flash update or computer reboot this problem occurs.

It's taken me a while to get back but wanted to let you know that your suggestion fixed the problem.  I already had .net 4 installed with all the latest updates.  Repairing the installation through the control panel fixed the problem.

However, the next time I tried to start Plan-g, it crashed on startup again.  Went through the repair procedure again and it still crashes.

Here is the error:

Where can I find previous stable versions of Plan-g that worked?

Thank you for your response.

Just installed Plan G 3.03 (Build 56) and it crashes on start-up.  Setup and plan-g3exe set to run as admin and program installed on D:\drive and not under Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders.  Running Windows 7 64-bit with 16mb RAM.
