Hi,

now I found the reason for the missing airstrips in PlanG.

This PlanG doesn't look well enough into the "Addon Scenery" folder, only the scenery sub folder is touched. So if one doesn't put the new airstrips into this sub folder PlanG won't get them. All my sceneries are directly under "Addon Scenery" to keep me better organized. FSX is also ok with this because it has knowledge of the new airstrips.

I added all the paths of the relevant sceneries into PlanG even they are in "Addon Scenery" and now I can see them pretty well.

Maybe you see this as an issue to improve PlanG a bit with the next update?

Thanks
Spirit

That's by design with MS - the scenery folder is a default location that contains whatever scenery bgls are needed so if things are dumped in there FS will find them.  It makes it easy to use.  Or if you do what I do and create subfolders as Addon Scenery\My Airport where My Airport folder has a scenery and texture folders and the bgls are in the My Airport\scenery folder you can add it to Flight Sim's scenery library.  Then Plan-G finds it.  I have quite a few subfolders in my Addon Scenery folder and I just add them to the MS Senery Library and Plan-G picks them up.

Build 50, installed on Win 7 64 bit Pro on folder in D drive.  Whenever I try to Set Waypoint Cross references I get the following error.  I installed and have it set to run as Administrator.  I've uninstalled everything, checked the registry and get the error every time.

Plan-G / Re: How to Fly a Flightplan

Forgive me if this question has been asked and answered before, but I loaded Plan G last night and went through the process of making the "Scenic" flightplan as per the manual. Then I decided to go fly!

Plan G connected alright with FSX, but my question is how do I get the aircraft to follow the flightplan and maintain the altitudes as described in that flightplan? Do you have to import the flightplan into the GPS or should the flightplan work and be activate by just connected Plan G to FSX?

I am running FSX in windowed mode and a second monitor to display Plan G. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I love the flight planner, and making the scenic flightplan was an eye opener as to it's capabilities.

Paul

You have to load the flight plan into FSX and then when you open the GPS the route will be shown.  You can load the flight plan from the menu if you have a flight open or load it from the opening screen.

If you have X-Plane 9 or 10, and a collection of flight plans in FMS format, I'd be interested to hear from you. I'm looking for as many FMS files as I can get hold of, for testing purposes in the new version of Plan-G.

If you'd like to send me some plans, or even be involved in testing PG3 with X-Plane, please send me a message.

Thanks :)

I only  have one plan but am willing to test PG3 with X-Plane and I'll work on more plans.  Where do we send the plans.

PM Sent.

I have just installed the latest version of Plan-G on windows 7 home premium with FSX and it keeps coming up with this message saying, Cannot find file C:///google.html: please check the web address or file location.
I installed it at:-    C:/Plan-G

I have searched site but found no answer
Any help much appreciated

Morrisdancer

It sounds like you don't have access to the internet.  Is this a home or work system and is there a firewall turned on - either Windows or one somewhere else?

Tim,

First of all, this is a fantastic program.  The beautiful map views are the best out there.  It really enhances FSX big time.
My question... In FS Navigator you could have the program "autoland" a plane by being able to connect it to the autopilot in FS2004 and it would land the plane simply and ACCURATELY!  It would tie into the ILS localizer and glidescope and work like a charm.  You would control the speed, gear and flaps etc. but the program would hook you up to the ILS frequency, set approach, bring you automatically down to decision height and the other necessary autopilot functions. Unfortunately, the developer cancelled the project with the arrival of FSX. No other developer has has done this since. At least one that worked correctly.  I enjoyed this feature because I like FSX and flying but I can't land the heavys worth a darn and I'm tired of fighting it! I can't enjoy the new fantastic sceneries as much as I'd like.  I don't want to be a "real" pilot. Is there any chance that you would incorporate this in Plan-G?  I see a lot of comments on FS forums with people looking for the same idea. I would gladly pay a retail price for Plan-G with this feature.
Thanks for your work,
Jeff

Some of the FSX heavies have an autoland if I recall  You might check that out.  I do mainly pistons (round engines) so I haven't been in a jet for some time.

Plan-G / Re: Running Plan-G and FS9 At The Same Time

Thanks very much--that solved the pausing problem.

Now, I notice that if both the FS9 and Plan-G screens are running on my monitor, I lose FS9 audio and the ability to make panel changes.  The FS9 and Plan-G aircraft and yellow icon are moving, but I cannot make any changes to either of them, without causing one to minimize.

Is there any way to keep both screens running and still be able to hear FS9 and make changes to its panel, without minimizing one of them?  Perhaps, place the Plan-G screen in its own window that could be moved over the FS9 screen and still retain FS9 audio and panel control?

Again, my thanks for any suggestions...

Lee

You're welcome.  You will lose audio when you switch applications - that's normal.  When you shift away from FS9 the other app gets the focus and sound.  Only one app at a time can have the focus so when you go to Plan-G FS keeps running but the sound changes to Plan-G (or any other app you switch to).

I searched the Forum and read the FAQs, but did not find an answer to the following question:

How do I get Plan-G and FS9 to run simultaneously?  If I have FS9 running (not paused) and I try to run the Plan-G screen with my flight plan and yellow aircraft icon, either FS9 pauses or the Plan-G screen pauses.  I cannot get both to run at the same time...

I read the Manual and examined the various choices at the top of the Plan-G screen, but I did not discover a way to run the Plan-G flight plan screen (using the Google Earth screen, for example) in a separate window that could be viewed (un-paused) at the same time as FS9 was running.  Is there a way to run Plan-G in a separate windows on top of FS9, and have both running at the same time?

I feel like I must have missed some instruction to accomplish the above, but I can't find it...Thanks in advance, for any suggestions...

Lee

Yes, you can.  In FS9 do you have Pause on Task switch checked.  If I remember it's under general options.  If so uncheck it.

Does this program work pretty much like FSNav used to. I am on Win 7, FSX.  I used to be able to track my ILS flight on the FS Nav map.  I could drag plan to another position on the map and continue to fly to the same location as I remember?

Thanks
jack

It's been many years since I ran FSNav but Plan-G runs as a separate program and you can track your progress against a flight plan.  I'm not sure what you mean by drag plan to another position on the map.

No, there isn't a way to do that. But it's a nice feature, so I'll put it on the todo list. Thanks.

Tim, is this on the To-Do for version 3!  What I would like to see is.

1.  From any point drag a QDM line that gives distance and bearing from the point.  Leave that line on the map
2.  Go to another point and drag another QDM line so that it crosses the first one.  Leave that line on the map
3.  Be able to click on the intersection and create a user waypoint

Optionally the ability to draw a third line would be nice.

For the VA's I fly and the areas we fly very often waypoints are given as intersections of bearings and distances from two navaids (NDB, VOR, etc.), airports, or towns, etc.

Thanks.

Plan-G / Re: Conexión PROXY

Sorry, I don't know anything about proxies. Maybe someone else can help?

Without knowing details I would suggest that he check and see if the proxy in IE is setup.  If that is setup or doesn't work he can connect to an outside site using his login through the proxy and then see if Plan-G works.  That is one way I have to get out on my servers when I'm behind a proxy.  Once I connect from the system the proxy is happy and works - until it times out.

Other than that the application has to be built to accept proxy settings and use them to get out.  That means the app, such as Plan-G, would have to allow us to set proxy settings and then use them to talk to the proxy.  Usually that's the proxy info (address, port), and a username and password to authenticate as well as a check box to disable/enable the proxy.

Thanks.  I appreciate that - it is very handy and no other planner has it.

Plan-G / QDM and Cross Reference
January 19, 2011, 12:20:52 AM
Just downloaded the 2.02 version (haven't used it since 1.9) and it's very nice.  I'm not getting script errors all the time now.

I'm wondering about a feature that might be available but I've just missed it.  What I would like to do is to be able to draw a line from a point (such as a navaid) getting the distance and bearing as in QDM.  However, I want to be able to leave that line on the map and then go to another point - say another navaid and do the same. Where the intersect is where I'll create a user waypoint.  Many instructions for flights that I get give waypoints in terms of where Navaid A x degrees for y miles intersects with a radial from navaid b.

I've looked at QDM and Cross reference they didn't do that.  QDM clears the first line when you try and draw a second.  Is there a way to do what I want but I've missed it.
