Plan-G / Re: Not picking up online traffic
December 15, 2009, 12:51:21 PM
Hi Tim,
Ok have got a screenshot of the traffic explorer window during online gliding operations.
The selected aircraft G-CDLW was not showing on Plan-G and actually on closer inspection through ServInfo was not an ASK-13. I am using FSInn and the ASK-13 is the default a/c shown if it doesnt understand the transmitted info from the other a/c.

Let me know what else I can do if this is not good enough because AFAICS there isn't much there to go on.
All the best

Hi Tim,
I originally said I had used build 388, not 380? I suspect there are many more changes between 389 and 380 than between 389 and 388?

Traffic Explorer did not show any difference in aircraft info between players who displayed and those who did not.
Should I just give you the info from Traffic Explorer? Most of it is blank. Half wingspan is generally 9m since we are using gliders. I have to say I only looked for differences between displayed and non-displayed a/c. Then when there werent any I didnt log more info. Apologies.

0.8.0.380 definitely works ok. 0.8.1.389 does not.
Other folks had the same problem so we went back to 0.8.0.380

What I do notice is that with 0.8.0 the aircraft heading will not change if you just rotate the aircraft with slew. You have to move it fwd/back/left/right to get it to update the heading as well.

I notice that 0.8.1 does update the aircraft heading if you just rotate on the spot. Nice.
Thanks for all the hard work. Its a good tool.

Errr. Tim,
Many apologies. I got some info wrong.

The build that does work is 0.8.0.380
The build that does not show all traffic is 0.8.1.389

Many apologies for getting that wrong.
Will be testing out tonight.

Tim,
I am also getting this problem of not having reliable pickup of online traffic.
Am running FSX and using SimConnect with IPV4 as the protocol.
It has started happening for me with the latest 389 build. 388 did not exhibit this problem.

I am running UKVGA (gliding) launch points with up to about 8 players in the local area (within 1nm) and running on VATSIM. It can come and go and I did notice last night that at one point when a person disconnected from VATSIM, another person suddenly popped up. The aircraft that are missing do not show up in the traffic display either.

It is usually "better" when I restart Plan-G but not reliably so and players will still be missing.
Next launch point duty is tomorrow, so will try going backwards and forwards between 388 and 389 to see if I can see any pattern to the problem.
All the best

Plan-G / Re: SimConnect vs FSUIPC
November 22, 2009, 06:06:20 PM
Tim,
Have a suggestion here for folks like myself who have FS9 and FSX installed.
It is all working fine, but it currently seems (with Plan-G 0.1.8.389) that setting the "FS Connection" mode to Auto, it only thinks I have FSX selected, even if I have FS9 selected.

So in order to connect to FS9 if I have Auto selected (say having previously used FSX), I have to go to the FS Connection tab and set the mode to FSUIPC, as if the connection part of the app thinks it is still in FSX mode.

Given that FS9 does not have SimConnect I would have expected Auto to mean that when in FS9 mode it would only use FSUIPC, but when in FSX mode it would try SimConnect and fallback to FSUIPC.

Just a thought. Hope that lot makes some sort of sense.

Plan-G / Re: Simconnect Again
November 12, 2009, 12:55:57 AM
Hi Tim,
Am one of the gliding chaps and have been trying to get Plan-G working on my laptop with a remote connection to FSX.
Had some initial problems, but I have managed to get it working and so am posting what I did here...

1: Initially copied the MSFS SimConnect.xml file from the relevant SDK directory into the relevant directory on the FSX machine.
2: Then tried to connect. No joy.
3: Fiddled about and looked at the xml file and found that by default, all <SimConnect.Comm> records were disabled by default.
4: So modified the xml file to have the following:   <Disabled>False</Disabled>
5: And it all burst into life.

Obvious really. But I am just wondering if others have not done this mod.
Thanks for a really lovely proggie.
