V4 Beta / Filename to open as parameter to Plan-G.exe ?
September 01, 2021, 05:06:25 PM
Just a wish for a future release :azn: : may it be possible to take over a file specification as input parameter on calling Plan-G.exe?

I set Plan-G as default application for .plg files and if I open such a file by clicking on it, Plan-G.exe is started.
But it seems Plan-G doesn't use the file specification given as parameter from Windows as the route isn't shown
(so has to be loaded manually from the Plan-G file menu).

Plan-G Beta 4.0.0.243: clicking on the help icon or selecting help > user manual, I get a message that opening "C:\...\Docs\PlanGv3 Manual.pdf" isn't possible, but I find the manual with the correct name in the correct folder.

Maybe the error results from the fact that I replaced Acrobat Reader by Foxit Reader.
But opening PDFs from the "charts" menu works as desired (runs Foxit Reader).
Just a negligible issue...

Hi,

running Win7-64, I updated Powershell from 2.0 to 5.1 today (seems related as I never had such a Plan-G crash before).

After the update and some script development, I started Plan-G and it crashes immediately after the airports are loaded.

Event Viewer shows first an "event 1026 .NET runtime":
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address 0CF40480

then an "event 1000 Application error"
Faulting application name: Plan-G3.exe, version: 3.2.1.151, time stamp: 0x5aae80f5
Faulting module name: GTII-OSD.dll, version: 2.0.3.2, time stamp: 0x5be93141
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00030480
Faulting process id: 0x173c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d53f44ec2c8084
Faulting application path: C:\Games\Plan-G v3.2.1\Plan-G3.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\GPU TweakII\GTII-OSD\Win7\x86\GTII-OSD.dll
Report Id: 2c076ce7-ab38-11e9-a2f0-ac9e17ec5720

After several crashes, I tried to remove user.config from AppData\Local and did a reboot, then it worked again for a short time.
As OpenStreetMap doesn't load, I selected OpenCycleMap, no crash, then OpenTopoMap, now it crashes again.
I deleted user.config again, no relief.

What I don't understand: the faulting module path points to ASUS GPU Tweak ?!?

Supplement: Plan-G works again.
I read the "Faulting module path" as I copied the event message into this thread.
Afterwards, I looked closer on the ASUS GPU TweakII:
on the monitor part of the GPU Tweak is a button "OFF/OSD"
I never touched this button but I saw that OSD was activated, so I set it to off.
Now Plan-G runs again.

Nevertheless, I don't understand the relationship between the ASUS tool and the Plan-G crashes... ???

Plan-G / Re: Suggestion: ruler with distance and angle
February 10, 2019, 03:29:16 PM
Sorry, forgot to check the topic but today, I need the function again, so...
after I first tried your advice, I didn't see any "information popup", but a red line.

Did various steps - but nothing.
Then I got it: the mysterious popup window could be made visible by "View" -> "Information" and now I know why there's a topic "lock/unlock info panel" by right mouse clicking.

Many thanks from a slow-brainer  ;)

Plan-G / Suggestion: ruler with distance and angle
December 02, 2018, 12:17:11 PM
Maybe there's something in the actual release of plan-g and I didn't find it...
my suggestion is a "ruler" kind of measuring instrument, so I select two points and get the angle and distance between them.

At the moment, I get angle and distance for navaids.
I even get angle and distance by creating two waypoints, connect them and look in the flight plan
(afterwards, I have to remove them from the flight plan, then delete them).

But what I'm missing is a fast method while in the mid of the creation of a flight plan (VFR) to check the distance between my last waypoint and a point-of-interest.

At the moment, I estimate the distance and angle or use the distance circles (imprecise).
My wish is a function to select two points (outside the actual flight plan) and get angle and distance
