Plan-G / Re: PlanG with FSX SE (Steam)
January 07, 2015, 02:57:58 PM
A have a side-by-side installation of the Steam Edition (FSX and FSX-SE on different discs).

I copied the simconnect.xml from the FSX directory into the FSX-SE directory, and changed the paths to the FSX program and the Scenery.cfg pointing both to the Steam installation.

Plan-G now works with Steam on that machine ....... no further changes were necessary to connect to my other machine over the network.

Tim,

I seem to have this occurring constantly in Vista 64 (see attached).

Any ideas?

Tim,
QuoteTo what purpose?
I run Plan G on a second monitor, and often change the zoom level.  I use the range rings to indicate proximity of the next touch-and-go.  This entails constantly moving the mouse between the 2 screens, locating the next waypoint (which may be off-screen), then placing the range rings at the new location, hovering for the runway info, and then return the mouse to the other monitor to get focus (and sound) back to FSX.

Just laziness, really, but it would certainly cut down the workload   :)

Tim,

If using a flight plan, would it possible to have range rings drawn automatically for the next waypoint or airfield on the plan (and removed from the previous) ?

Plan-G / Magnetic variations

Tim,

In the attached screenshot:

Plymouth according to the airport info in Plan G has a magvar of 5.0, the mouse hover shows it as 3.75, and the aerodrome chart on NATS gives 3.3

I get similar results anywhere in England, but the differences rise or fall the further East or West I go.

Any ideas?

Tim,

Filter is off - what exactly does it filter if ON?

Plan-G / Multiplayer

Tim,

An update on the User aircraft appearance in a Multiplayer session:

Four of the VFR Flyers had a session recently, and we tried the following to see if all of us were visible to each other:

I was the host and set up the session in Multiplayer, then Ken Tom and Monir joined my session - at this stage none of us loaded Plan G.
I (the host) started Plan G and even though none of the others had started it I was able to see K, T and M in my traffic (and 3 red aircraft) but not myself (which is good, as I have the yellow aircraft symbol for myself).  So far, so good.
Each of the others then joined Plan G and the result was that each of them could see themselves and 2 others as traffic, but none of them could see the host, D.

This may well be something that is impossible to fix, but I thought I would update you on our findings.

Plan-G / Re: No correct route in Flight Plan

Dennis,
QuoteYou have to restart your flight and load the plan before you fly
Not true for me, I'm afraid.

Whilst in a session the other evening with FSX running, I loaded Plan G.  I then created a small flight plan in Plan G and saved it to the usual location.  I then brought up the GPS and loaded the flight plan in the normal way.
