What an improvement Tim.

Congratulations and thanks.  Especially for you fast response today (Sunday) when I hit a bit of a problem.

Looking good mate.

Sorry Tim, I never keep my Flight Plans.  Its the first thing I delete from everything after a flight.  Mainly to get rid of the bin I must admit.  Its a hang over when that was thought to be the cause of a lot of problems with failed follow on flights.

Forget it for now because I want to try the flight without AVG input and another without Radar Contact.  At least that should eliminate whether it's Tony's airfield causing the problem.

I'll have to come back to you if I find its a conflict between Plan G and Radar Contact.  I rather suspect its Radar Contact as they've said they did have some problems with a couple of airfields and Newcastle was one of them.  Although, having said that, they also said they thought they had cured them some time ago!

Hi Tim

Thanks for the quick response.  As I said; 'to EGNT Newcastle twice, once from Southampton and thinking it was my fault a second try from Leeds.'

It was an IFR flight using at first the Aerosoft Airbus X which would not work at all and finally, thinking it might be that nervous soul, I used the Gates Learjet.

It seems that Radar Contact have had some problems with Newcastle addons for FS9 but that's probably not relevent in my case of course because I'm using FSX.  However, I can soon get rid of Tony Meredith's Newcastle and replace it with UK2000 with which Radar Contact and their other airports has been working fine.

In any case, I've noticed before that the Airbus X just doesn't seem to like flight plans from Plan G.  It simply refuses to work.  So, there's a mystery which I think I may have solved for Radar Contact with Newcastle but it still remains with the Airbus X and Plan G.

I acknowledge that I've gone from one thing to another here...sorry.

Plan-G / Radar Contact

Hi Tim

For some reason, every time I file a Plan-G flight plan with FSX and use Radar Contact for the IFR flight, the flight goes wrong for some reason.  Today, I tried to fly to EGNT Newcastle twice, once from Southampton and thinking it was my fault a second try from Leeds.  Each time I was directed on to a 180 degree bearing (which is daft of course) and the second time, I got fed up and finished the flight VFR using the FSX ATC.

I've posed the question on the Radar Contact forum but because I have no trouble using Radar Contact with flights using the FSX flight planner alone, I'm wondering if there's a bit of a problem with the source of the planner or if there's a little trick I don't know of that will allow me to use both?

Plan-G / Plan G - New Version

Hi Tim

Thanks for the new update but don't do any more for the time being mate, there's a good chap. ;) ;D

You know what a twit I can be.  It's just taken me over an hour to download and fiddle around to get it the way I like it.

Occupy yourself with something else, preferably one that helps to pay the bills! ;D

All the best,

John

I'm afraid its not mine to give.  As I said in my post it's part of Tony Meredith's admittedly freeware scenery.

You can find him on the Earth Simulations Forum or on his own website at;  ARM-Computers, email; tony@arm-computers.co.uk

Plan-G / Just a thank you Tim

Well, it's what it says really.  A big thank you for the original and now the update.  I wondered what that 'data' folder was for. ;D

I don't know about others but I've often had difficulty in deciding, not necessarily from where, but where to go to i.e. Somewhere a reasonable distance and Plan G fulfils that task so very easily.

Thanks a lot.

Plan-G / EGDA Brawdy

Hi Tim

While flying from Haverford West to Milford Haven to have a look at the refineries there I found a mysterious airport that's not included in Plan G .  It was to the right (west) of the route and I've identified it as Brawdy, one of Tony Meredith's older freeware.  Here's part of it;

Of course, it may be the RAF closed it before you made the map, but I thought you may be interested.  It has two good runways and I've found it useful when practicing but only wish to take short flights in beautiful and with the refineries as a backdrop interesting countryside.

Looking good for the future then Tim.

By the way.  You're cheating and using emoticons not available to us punters! ;)

Plan-G / Using Plan G

Yep, I've only had it 10 minutes or so and already I can see great things from this. It beats the Orbx Google Earth hands down. Thank you Tim for putting me on to it.  It must have taken you an age to create Plan G and I suspect rightly;y you are very proud of it.  I certainly would be.

I've found my way to my cousin's place in Penticton, British Columbia so I'm now going to have a play to see if I can find a route over the rest of the Rockies to Vancouver.  If I can do that, I can go anywhere and probably, hopefully print, or at least save my maps for use in future flights.

All the best and thank you again.

There you are, another satisfied customer. ;) ;D

Plan-G / Fallen at first hurdle!

Hi Tim if you're there,

From what little I've seen so far this looks like it might be the answer to the myriad of separate road maps etc I've collected since starting flight simming.

However, I've downloaded, read the installation part of the manual, got the shortcut on my desktop, Run as Administrator and up comes the expected  message ;  'Go to the Data menu and select Build FSX database....'

The only problem is I can't find those words anywhere in the extracted list contained in the 'Plan G' folder.

Can you tell me where to go please? ;D
