FSX - where should the .pln file be placed and how is it loaded?

Maybe I missed this when reading such a super manual but ........ I have tried various places - missions, flights and FSX does not appear to recognise this file or maybe I should import this file some other way. Any help really would stop me burning up brain cell 2!

FYI: When saving the file, I do select the FSX option

Save the .pln file to My Documents/Flight Simulator X files. From the free flight screen in FSX choose flight planner/Load. The file should be in that list. Hope this helps
