1.  Some airstrips have an asterisk beside its name.  What is this all about?  If it's part of a flight plan, it can't be exported.

2.  How can I access the Random Destinations Options Dialogue?  Maybe it's a senior moment but I don't see how to do this.

1. What asterisk? Can you give an example?

2. Click the little options button at the bottom right of the Flight Plan section of the ribbon

Ok, now I see the option button.  The random flight plan is a very cool feature that I just discovered after all these years.  I really need to read the manual.

I installed a bunch of airstrips in Madagascar.  One of them is FMYD.  If I put that in the quick plan box, the name of the strip is Fenoairvo Be*.  There are very many of these airstrips with this asterisk.  If it's in a flight plan and I export, the asterisk will be in the airstrip name and won't save to disk.  If I manually delete the asterisk, it will save.  Then the flight plan works fine in fsx.  This is kinda weird so I'm just wondering what the asterisk means and why it is there.

Were the airstrips freeware? If you can give me a pointer to where you got them I can look into it.

Just go to flightsim, FSX Scenery, type in Madagascar.  Download the Mada Bush Airfields by Pierre Mogenet.  This is an update to the three FS9 Madagascar bush files that you will need also.  Once these are all installed, update Plan-G airports.  Then make some flight plans between these airstrips.  You will see the asterisk in the flight plan and in the quick plan by the airstrip's name.

Really, I don't see this as a problem so if it's too much, feel free to skip it.  I'm just curious about it but if you have no idea, it must be a very rare phenomenon.
