Hi, I've been running Plan-G very successfully on a Win 7 PC.

Yesterday I completely uninstalled the FSX DeLuxe Edition, and installed FSX-SE (Steam) Edition. All my scenery files (OrbX) have reloaded ok, and all add-on aircraft are ok.

However when I tried to run Plan-G, the banner appeared briefly and then disappeared, and the program did not run. There is a desktop icon, and a start icon, but selecting them just starts another instance at the bottom in the start bar.

Rebooting PC - no improvement.

I tried a complete uninstall and then reinstall of PlanG, but the problem stays.

Help! I've become completely dependent on being able to run PlanG!

Does it create a log file? If so, please attach it. (it's in My Documents\Plan-G Files\)

Tim, have located the Logfile for my attempt this morning.. Couldn't see how to attach a file here, so have copy/pasted below: Appreciate any help you can give! Peter.

That looks like a normal start. I'm going to suggest deleting the config file, which will reset everything to default, and may well get it past whatever is causing it to crash. The file is in a non-obvious place (rather like the FSX config!), and you'll need to look up the location in the readme, since I'm at work right now and can't access that information.

Tim,
I found a file called "Plan-G3.exe.config" in C:\Program Files (86) \Plan G etc and deleted it.
When I then tried to run PlanG I got an error message saying to the effect that "PlanG has stopped working..." amd Windows wanted to close it off.
I guess this wasn't the right file, so I'll leave it  for now - if you could manage to look for it - when you can, and when this is convenient for you...
For now, I have installed PlanG on another old PC I have, which is running my old previous copy of FSX DeLuxe Edition, and it is now happily running there with no problem.
If I have to , I can generate plans on this old PC and transfer them to the new one running FS-SE, but this is obviously not the best solution and I won't be able to have the Plan G map showing whilst flying on the new PC... so I'd really prefer to fix the problem!!
But at least I CAN now prepare Flight Plans. Of course I'll have to recreate all my Waypoints on the old PC - I didn't export that database on the new PC before this problem arose. Grumble..Grumble..
Rgds, Peter.

Tim,
I re-read the Manual (always a good idea!) and saw a note that sometimes installing in the default location (C:\Program Fiels (86) etc ) can cause problems.
So I created a folder in my newly installed 1Tb SSD (separate to C:) and installed Plan-G there.
Success! Plan-G seems to have installed ok, built the database, shows the map etc.
I closed it down & it restarted ok.
Thanks,
Peter.
