Was just talking to a friend of mine on team speak cause i told him to get this G-plan cause it's the best thing since sliced bread. he just told me he put it in but it knockes his frames rates down to 1 and 3 frames- wow  like were talking  a major hit here, any idea's cause i tiold  him to keep his + and - range in about the middle which he has. so i told him i'd post here to see. he is running FSX  -  Thanks   Louis --Mainland 2488

What version is he using? What spec is his PC?  Is he running Plan-G (NOT G-Plan!!!) on the same PC as FS, or across a Lan? What is he doing in Plan-G, where, at what zoom, with what overlays turned on, Is Plan-G connected to FS? With SimConnect or FSUIPC? etc.

Thanks a bunch - i'll tell him when i catch up to him on team speak, i know his rig has got lots of power.

I have a very much mid range older system, and Plan-G does not drop a single frame for me, with the exception of when it is loading, then I get a couple of pauses. I think your mate needs to take a close look at his system settings.

I don't notice any frame drops in FSX either and I've got 5 instances (!) of Plan-G connected (SimConnect). One instance at the PC running FSX and 4 other PC's in various rooms are connected.
(FSX PC is a W3520 running at 4.3Ghz.)

Sorry to add to this Tim, but even I have a drop in frame rates when connected to flightsim via simconnect. I only have, as overlays, lge, med, small airports, VOR's, NDB's, Lower and ICAO airspace, airstrips, disused, obstacles,VRP's. Generally run Plan-G at zoom level 10 in terrain mode and have found at this level, I have a frame rate drop of between 5-15 fps. Very rarely get error messages or script messages and generally Plan-G runs sweetly.
My system is Core2Duo 6400 at 2.13Ghz, 4Gb RAM DDR2 , Nvidia 9500GT 1024Mb Graphics Card, 2 monitors,Windows 7  64bit, .NET Framework 4, and I  usually fly with Main FSX screen windowed on main screen and teamspeak, fsinn cp, aircraft instrument panels and Plan-G on the second screen. Generally am getting variable fps, sometimes as low as five-15, another time it will be 12-30, and can also some times have 20-70 all this in the default Baron B58 at Bristol Int. west apron stationary, but when I take off the frames will rise to twice what they were on the ground and this is whilst Plan-G is not running. Start Plan-G after spawning at Bristol and the fps is down to single figures stationary, and only rising to around the 14-20 mark after take-off, and this is only occurring in the UK with photoscenery, fly default anywhere else in the world and the frame rates are twice what they are in the UK, eg in Australia I am getting fps in excess of 30+ without Plan-G, engage Plan-G and this will be cut to approx half. I am only really finding a big difference when flying over the UK photoscenery, but my flightsim is running smoothly most of the time, so the drop does not bother me too much.
However when Plan-G is open and running with FSX, if I am pointing towards any extremely built up areas of airports, cities, or even woods, then I can watch my flightsim drop down to a crawl in single figures of between 1 -9 and the flightsim starts to stutter, turn off Plan-G and the fps usually stays above single figures for the same flight.
And there is no difference to this issue in either Simconnect or FSUIPC for my system. But I would love to know what the issue is that is causing it.    Cheers for now   Myk
