Hello All.

This is the first time I have struck this problem.  I went to build database for FSX as I had new scenery that had just been installed into FSX.  It took less than 2 seconds to finish but I had time to note that it said airports 0 and intersections 0, I didn't have time to read the rest.  The FSX build database was 'blue'.  I then hit the FSX data button but nothing happened, tried this several times.  Then I tried hitting the File, Home, Map. View buttons and nothing happens.  I also notice along this ribbon the word 'First' in green written above 'data'.  However everything appeard locked, I could not get into anything.

I would appreciate all the help I can get please.

Jim.

Hi Tim, I feel quite chuffed as I think I found the 'log' ( I'm totally useless with computers fair go) anyway here's what I found, and in reading it, it refers to FS9.  I do not have FS9 only X.

Regards, and thanks a million.

Thanks Jim.
I'm not sure what the problem was, but that log shows no data retrieved at the start, then a successful database build, which took about 7 minutes, and data being retrieved at the end.

Hello Tim.

Do you have any other idea's as to what may be wrong.  The 5 commands along the top, data shows out as bold, but the other 4 are light grey, completely different to Data.  I have tried to snip it out to show you, I hope it works.  I have also tried deleting everything and re-installing but still the same problem, the commands will not work.

I hope you can come up with something, sorry about this.

Regards,
Jim.

The 'First' and deactivated menus indicate no data in the database. That is counter to what your log file is saying. But then maybe if your paths are mixed up, the log is coming from a different install?

Hello Tim,

It's the pest here again!! I'm sorry but my thought that I may have found the problem proved false.  So as it stands at the moment, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program 6 times, each time the file, view and map words are still greyed out but data is a strong black and the ribbon for data shows as it should the other greyed out one's just won't open.  Now here is a funny thing (or is it), I flew Darwin this morning and put it into FSX, when I looked at plan-G which I had running in the back ground it showed  the tracks I flew, as well as the red coloured planes that were stationary at the airport.

Gee Tim, it's enough to bring tears to a glass eye, fair go.

Regards,
Jim.

The only thing that will activate the menus is a successful database build. Reinstalling the program will wipe the database, which means you will need to rebuild it.

You should also run the ClearAllSettings program to make sure the registry is clean.

Tim, you little bloody beauty.  I spent nearly a week reading and rereading the manual, checking this and that, then a few words from you and my problem is solved.

You're the Master Tim, fair dinkum.  I will try and leave you in peace now.  The program is magnificent, and you're magnificent.

Thanks, so much.
Jim.

I have been having the same problem and have spent lots of time reading the manual, learned a lot, and reading in the forum. I had uninstalled the program several times and reinstalled it but apparently had not cleared the registry and the log. After reading this problem in the forum tonight and realizing this was exactly the problem I was having, I tried again to uninstall, clear all, and reinstall. It worked and I have my wonderful Plan G back working once more. I use two screens and fly on one and run plan G on the other and sometimes I close it down without moving plan g to the number 1 screen. I wonder if this could have gotten the program out of wack because it used to work just fine. Anyway, this is a great program and I am back in action using it. Many thanks Tim.

a very happy Lazyeight    :c017:
