Flight Plan Course line

In 0.8.1.388 there are no course lines for the flight plan.  I load the plan and it shows up in the plan expander with all it's waypoints but aren't there supposed to be lines between waypoints indicating the course.  I can't remember if they existed in earlier versions as I've been using Plan-G as a sectional for a while and not having the plans loaded.

Thanks.

Grunt,

Downloading latest version will bring you to v0.8.1.389.

Can you please upload the plan that does not display? (attach it to your message)

Thanks

Sure, I'll attach both of them.

Thanks. I'll take a look.

On this PC, flight 1 displays fine. Flight 2 displays, but it definitely isn't right -- the two middle waypoints are displayed in Kamchatka, which I'm sure isn't the intention. But this is with FSX data. I'll investigate on a PC with FS9 data loaded later tonight. It definitely needs some further investigation.

I loaded another plan and it has the same issue but Inotice my total distance is 2371.2 nm and the most is should be is around 200 nm.  After I finish this flight I'll save the plan from FS and then load it again in Plan-G and see if it recognizes it then.  There must be something broken in the flight plan.

I created the same flight plan I was flying in Plan-G.  That is I started new flight plan and recreated it, and then saved it as a totally new plan.  The distance is correct but I still get no course line.  If I restart Plan-G and Open the flight plan I do not get asked for my speed and nothing shows in the Plan expander.  I'm attaching the one I created with Plan-G.

What did you use to create your plan  RAA_AAM237_Flight1_02.pln? The reason it doesn't load properly is that the longitude coordinates are all written with a -ve value (ie W-158...) If you edit the pln file and remove the - signs it will be fine. You should be able to open it in Notepad, since it is plain text.

That doesn't explain why you don't see the plan line -- all the files you have sent are visible to me, both with FSX and FS9 data loaded. Is a plan visible if you create it from scratch? What if you create a plan somewhere else in the world, say Europe or Australia; is that visible when you reload it? Are there any errors recorded in the log file when you open the plan?

Crumbs, I answered and the sesssion timed out on me so here it is again.

I  used another flight planner - I'll open them in UEStudio and fix them.

For a test I did this.

1.  Open Plan-G, create flight plan from KGMU to KCLT - get course line
2.  Save the plan
3.  Exit Plan-G
4.  Open the plan - no course line, nothing in the expander.

As a test I did the following.

1.  Open Plan-G
2. Load the VFR flight plan from PACD to PADU - no course line, nothing in the expander
3. Find airport KGMU -  add it to the plan - Now I have a courseline that goes back to PADU and there is the plan in the expander.

I'm attaching the log from this session - I added a comment line just before I added KGMU.

That's the logging for it drawing the plan after you added the extra leg. You can see four point are in Alaska, and the fifth much further South and East. There's no hint in the log that it tried to draw it before you added the extra leg, which is puzzling, and needs investigation.

Here's something to try, which might act as a workaround for the short term. Open the file, then hit the 'Reverse' button (the U-turn) twice. This might force it to redraw (hit it twice, and you should have the plan back in the same order).

Yes, very strange indeed.  The double reverse works.  I hit R once and get the reversed plan with legs.  Again and I'm back where I started.

Thanks.

Regarding the flight plan not being visible and/or dramatic excursions of plan data.

I noticed that often when the route is not visible, it would be restored to view if I adjusted the application window size just a little - but since I was also battling the other (waypoint excursions) issue at the same time there may be two different reasons for no display.

I had a flight plan (actually two of them) created in FSX then edited by hand to get more accurate waypoints using aircraft position as I flew the route.

Both flightplans (if they would load at all - I had to terminate the Plan-G process several times) showed multiple excursions to the equator in place of the normal waypoints.

After reading the post about the negative values in the flight plan I rechecked my code (it was fine and displays normally in FSX). There were no negative values BUT I edited waypoints using only decimal minutes instead of the mm ss format that the FSX-created locations contained.  FSX was fine with this so I only thought of it while browsing here.

I reloaded both and RE-SAVED them with FSX (which restored the mm ss format and both plans load correctly now in Plan-G.

The plan load time for 37 waypoints was nearly 30 seconds - I was about to give up and terminate the process again when it popped into view correctly.

Lesson learned: RE-SAVE with FSX after hand editing. And be patient.

LOVE this addition... one of the best I've used since AFCAD. A "must have"

Thanks Tim!

Could you upload the plans that divert to the equator, please?

Thanks
