Install Fails

I have downloaded Plan-G v3.3.3, unzipped the file then installed as Administrator. Clicked on desktop icon and Plan-G appeared.
I am running windows 10 and have X-Plane installed and running OK. Net Framework 4.5 is installed.
When Plan-G comes up the menu bar is grey with only FSX highlighted but doesn't work. When I click on the small options button a notice comes up saying that Plan-G is not working and the only option is to close the program. So what have I done wrong?

OK I have Plan-G up and running. "If in doubt read the Manual" I did not reason that the Navigation Database had to be done first so worked through that, but still couln't bring up the New Zealand map.
Anyway I decided it was coffee time and after that I restarted Plan-G and there was New Zealand.
Ran a couple of trial flight plans all OK, but still feeling my way around all the features and controls.
I shall now go and have a lay down!
