New user: database will not build

I cannot get started with Plan G as the database will not build. I have tried a solution on this forum - rebuilding the scenery.cfg - which has not resolved the issue.

The log file has one obvious error- it says - in several places - " getWxDataWorker The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found"

However I attach the whole log file below in case someone can spot something elsewhere which might explain the problem.

Many thanks

Nick

For FSX Steam, you'll need to set the scenery.cfg location to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE

Tim. @TimArnot

nick792

Thanks Tim for your reply, but I believe that only applies if you have a dual install of FSX Classic and FSX Steam.

If you install FSX Steam only, the path is C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and that's what it is on my system...

nick792

Tim, have you any idea why getWxDataWorker is returning a 404 error (see log file in my original post) - sounds like the URL built into G-Plan database build is not finding some site on the internet..

Thanks again for your help

Nick

tim arnot

Looks like NOAA has moved their wx server.

Between that and the shenanigans of the tile providers, the world is coming to an end, I tell you!

Tim. @TimArnot

nick792

I suspect that if NOAA have moved their server, there's nothing I can do about that...I presume that means you will need to issue a revised version of Plan G when time allows...

Best wishes

Nick

tim arnot

Yup. METARS are still working fine; it's only TAFs that are affected.

Tim. @TimArnot

nick792

So there's no other clue in the log file above (in my first post) which tells you why the database is not building?

tim arnot

Only that it looked for the cfg file in a place I didn't expect it to find one, and found no data.

Tim. @TimArnot

nick792

Thanks, Tim, got it sorted now - I was confused by the settings in that the FSX program setting had to point to the exe file, while the scenery setting had to point just to the folder. I had it pointing to the cfg file itself!

Thanks again

Nick
