Mar Var not calculated

Tim,

I've done a quick search but couldn't find this issue.

If I add a user waypoint into a flight plan, the magnetic variation is not calculated in the heading from that waypoint.

See the pic for an example:
The heading from Shaw Island Strip (which is the southern most waypoint in the pic) to 4WA5 is shown as 051 degrees in the Heading (M) column but this is the True heading.
For comparison, the heading from 4WA5 to CYCW (which is almost the same heading) is shown as 028 degrees in the Heading (M) column, which is correct.

In the same way, the headings from the other 3 user waypoints are shown with the True headings in the Heading (M) column.

When the flight plan is loaded into FSX, the Mag Var does get calculated by FSX and shows correctly in the FSX flight plan and on the FSX GPS. It's just that the flight plan chart in Plan-G shows it incorrectly.

Thanks very much for a great programme.

Regards
Graham

P.S. I'm using v0.9.01.423
P.S.S. In case you're wondering, the first user waypoint on the map isn't in the flight plan because it wasn't actually selected to be included.

Did you set the magnetic variation when you created the user waypoints?

The magnetic variation shows up automatically in the MagVar box as soon as the Create User Waypoint window is opened and you can't complete the Create User Waypoint process without the magnetic variation being there (but I guess you know that already  ;) ).  After I had created the waypoints I did check each one with Edit User Waypoint and it was there correctly in the MagVar box in the Edit User Waypoint window for each one, so there was no need to change it.

I've just tried changing the magnetic variation for these waypoints using the Edit User Waypoint window, then deleting the waypoint from the flight plan I had already created and adding it back in again and it still doesn't calculate the magnetic variation correctly for those waypionts.

BUT, I have also just created a new similar flight plan with new user waypoints a little off the ones I had already created, using exactly the same process as I did before, and the flight plan now calulates the MagVar correctly.  Also, if I now edit the MagVar for the waypoint, delete the waypoint from the flight plan and then add it back in again, it now recalculates correctly for the different MagVar.

Very strange.  I haven't done anything different and it's working fine now :).  Maybe there was a glitch in the programme?  I'll watch for it happening again.

Anyway, thanks for the quick reply and thanks again for a great programme.

[EDIT: But see next post.]

Tim,

I spoke too soon :(

Everything is OK when I first create the flight plan, with all magnetic headings calculated correctly.

But if I save the flight plan, close it and then reopen it, the headings from user waypoints have changed and are now shown as True headings in the Heading M column.

Ok thanks. I'll look into it.
