Actually Plan-G will not start working:

Installed some time ago, and have been using it OK with no hiccups, a great program.

Today started FSX , aircraft at starting point in windowed mode as per usual, selected Plan-G, program opened without Google map displayed, just blank. pressed Connect, but message box came up - "Plan-G has stopped working", after about a minute Windows closed it down.

Tried a few more times, closed FSX, restarted FSX then Plan-G, - same deal.

Uninstalled Plan-G, downloaded and reinstalled Plan-G, rebuilt data base, same deal.

Puzzled.

Yes - my internet connection is OK, FSX is operating faultlessly, as is Google Earth

Still puzzled - any ideas??   :'(

tim arnot

Can you please supply the log file?

Google Maps uses a different server, so the fact that Google Earth is working does not necessarily mean anything. The Google Maps 2.0 server has stopped working for a while several times over the last few weeks - they do seem to be having some trouble with it.

I used to get this, but it hasn't happened since I ran the fix to IE for the message about the slow whatever it was, I assumed the two problems were associated.

Thanks for the reply. It's not working on my PC this morning but is OK on my lappy, so assume it is somewhere in the Fsim interaction. hope this attachment is successful, here goes:

OK, the Unknown Name error calling SetMapPosition indicates it's being blocked. So check your firewall, antivirus, IE security settings, UAC, user account priveleges etc.

Thankyou Tim,

I had changed my Internet Explorer security from Medium/High to High to try to get rid of two persistent bots - Double Click and another similar, but with no success, and Plan-G suffered. Your speedy action is appreciated.

Cheers, Bill

Hi all,

Same problem appeared Tuesday, out of the blue, to wit: "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"

For a partial fix, you can go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500

However, when this problem arose (suddenly, overnight), the responsiveness of Plan-G slowed down considerably. Getting the initial screen now takes a minute or so--as opposed to almost instantly the day before yesterday!

The Microsoft "fix" gets rid of the infinite loop on error messages. But it doesn't address the underlying problem. So no solution at the moment. All ears here!
