Hi all,
First of all, thanks for the app.killer ! Everything ran OK with the v1 and v2 except the airport map (only bullet available) with a FS2004 database.

I updated yesterday night to 2.01.474 then the app refused to launch. Immediatly after the "welcome screen", I received a Windows error message (your app. has stopped...).

The log file is... Hum...

Quote17:52:34.6
17:52:34.6 ---===+++===---
17:52:34.6 Starting Plan-G, build 2.0.1.474
17:52:34.6 OS is Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7600.0

And even ClearAllSettings refused to start.

I've tried to uninstall, then reinstall without success. I didn't find anything close to my issue in this forum. If someone has a idea ;-)

This thread http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1222.0 has an ongoing discussion and investigation of startup issues.

Thanks to point me to this thread, despite I don't have the same error message.

1. Have reinstalled with checking "run as admin" -> NOK (same error message, same content of "Plan-G_Log.txt")
2. Uninstall
3. Installed in another directory ("O:\Program Files\TA Software\Plan-G v2\") -> NOK (same error message, same content of "Plan-G_Log.txt")

The Debug Build (http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/plan-g/files/PlanG_478.zip) create this log :

21:28:51.2
21:28:51.2 ---===+++===---
21:28:51.2 Starting Plan-G, build 2.0.1.474
21:28:51.2 OS is Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7600.0
21:31:46.4
21:31:46.4 ---===+++===---
21:31:46.4 Starting Plan-G, build 2.0.1.478
21:31:46.4 OS is Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7600.0
21:31:46.4 Location is O:\Program Files\TA Software\Plan-G v2

As far as I don't have any IE info on the log, my issue seems not related to the related previous link (for info, I use IE 8.0.7600.16385) and like the other user previous version worked fine on the same Windows/PC.

Thanks for the log. Your install fails very much earlier than the other one. Could you give me more details of the exact error it fails with - maybe a screenshot of the error dialog?

Tim. @TimArnot

vbazillio

I suspect you will ask for that at one moment. I have a french Windows Seven, it's very common error message :

"PlanG has stopped working
Windows is looking for a solution"

Doesn't look very helpfull. Thanks for your help.

Sorry ;-(

Hmm. No it isn't. Have a look in the Windows Event Viewer logs (Administrative Tools->Event Viewer) - there should be an entry covering this. Hopefully there will be more information.

Definitly a good idea to watch the application event !

3 events occured during the startup crash : ".NET Runtime", "Application Error" (and the "Windows Error Reporting")

I try to investigate with my poor debuging skill. I'm so sad the new version doesn't want to work on my PC.

Obviously, I've reinstalled the .net framework (v4) considering the error message from the Event Viewer. But then, I saw different posts here, desinstalled .NET v4 and reinstalled and activate .NET 3.5 SP1

Then, I used Process Monitor (from sysinternals.com) to try to identified a wrong call (System.IO.FilenotfoundException detected in the Event Viewer). Some developper (Google is my friend) encoutered the samed error and detected .net framework "forget" to install a specific DLL on some computer and some directory and not on other compute. I tried to identified such an error in the capture event by Process Monitor... But without success.

If you have time and skill to help, the capture log of Process Monitor is available here (8 mb) : http://www.jheberg.com/download-182474D675F0-logfile-plang.html

Finally I start launching Plan-G !

1. I installed .NET v3.51 SP1
2. I activated it via the Control Panel (Program, Windows program)
4. I have uninstalled the v4 Client profile and the Extended .NET v4. For the second, don't know where it cames from
2. After the next reboot, my automatic Windows update claims to install. the .NET Client Profile v4
4. Windows Update did its v4 install

Then... Plan-G starts !

PS : sorry for all the noise. But if it could be usefull for other users, my isue was something around .NET client

Thanks tim... Unfortunetly, it was a false-good-news. It starts once. I built my FS9 Database, check the aiport chart. Shut my PC. And now it doesn't start anymore.

It's sound really .NET related.

Is it the same problem? Is there a log? (delete the existing log file before you run it, to be sure)

Yes, it's exactly the same problem. Information in the Plan-G log file and the Event Viewer is exactly the same as previously. It worked once, after uninstalling .Net 3.51 SP1 and 4.0 but only once.

Thanks for keeping this issue alive. Seing another .net issue (Falcon409), I will check my PC with the ".net Framework Setup Verification Tool". After that, actually, I don't in which direction I should get pointed...
