Tim and et al,  If I please ask a question of Plan-G and FSX, can you tell me if anyone has reported an FSX crash and freeze of Plan-G being caused by a faulty/corrupt ntdll.dll file connected to the fsx.exe.  It has happened to my system three times in a row. And I do not seem to find a fix for the problem anywhere, and the only info I can find goes back to 2005-7 which is only relating to windows xp, which is not helpful when I am running windows 7 64bit. Many thanks in advance as to your reply.   MykV

Can't say I've heard of anything. My suggestion would be to go back to an earlier System Restore Point, run a registry cleaner, check for corrupt drivers etc.

Sorry I have not responded before now, it now transpires that I have an erroneous entry in the registry of ab (default) Reg_SZ No value set, and this entry is driving me nuts. I have tried nearly every trick in the book to get rid of these entries in the Registry and all to no avail, only caused more problems with the computer. It left me with only one option and that was a total reinstall of everything that was being caused by an earlier problem of a corrupt ntdll.dll file, however what is interesting is that this erroneous error in the registry is not being picked up by any registry cleaner, of which I have tried several. And the problem that it is causing, is not allowing me ( as administrator) to put programs to the hard drive that I would like to put them to, it will only put everything onto the C: drive which is not where I would like to put FSX and others, notably FTX. It is not even allowing the self installers to offer the option box to put programs to the drive that I would like. The corrupt ntdll.dll files could not be repaired or swapped over from another machine to run correctly without causing FSX and Plan-G to either total crash or total freeze thereby causing a reboot to regain control, this was a total pain in the rear to have to do and lose everything I was either working o or flying to and from. Still if I could not keep my chin up over these problems and stay somewhat cheerful then I would be throwing the damn thing out the window in frustration. And they keep telling me that flight simming is fun, try smiling sweetly after the fourth or fifth time of a total reinstall of everything from before the problem.  Speak to you soon  Myk

Are you working with windows 7? If so, go to this website and get the .dll file created by Ramoonus at <http://www.ramoonus.nl/2010/01/the-fix-to-microsoft-flight-simulator-x-crash-on-windows-7-x64/> then simply copy it into your FSX main directory. It solved all my crash problems. Good luck!

Many thanks for all of your replies, I have downloaded that particular files as suggested and have stored it for (unhopefully) future use.  To get round the complete problem of this mess, I have installed a new hdd in the system and done a complete fresh install of Windows 7 and of course all of my FSX and all of those other lovely programs that I previously had. However to get my scenery library back to it's original state is going to take about another two weeks or so, to find and download all of that scenery that I use to have, around 125Gb worth, and nearly all freeware.  Then of course to sit back and watch Plan-G rebuild it's database and update the waypoints, is going to be so much fun.
