Hello,
I know there are many topics about this ...... BUT I am a novice about network connections :-[
I have read and followed the instructions in the manual charpter 8 and I seam to have some difficulties ...
The portable PC "sees" FSX PC but I have the feeling that PlanG does not build the database.

I cannot select "file" on PlanG.
After building during a few seconds , PLanG still requires building the DB.

Help!!
Thanks in advance

You need to make sure the path to your scenery.cfg is set within Plan-G, and also that it's accessible across the network.

You also need to make sure that EVERY path listed in the cfg can be accessed across the LAN.

Hello Tim, Thanks for helping me.
I have added the path to FSX in the Appl Data.
See attached screenshot taken from the portable PC (it a French speaking .. no problem?) to the FSX PC (in English)

"You also need to make sure that EVERY path listed in the cfg can be accessed across the LAN"

What means EVERY path?  path which folders?

more folders? Where can I find a list?

With this path added I have the same behavior when I try to build the DB.

The log you showed earlier did not have the path to the cfg file set.

You must look INSIDE the scenery.cfg. *Every* path there must be accessible from your Plan-G computer EXACTLY AS WRITTEN IN THE CFG FILE -- if you can't CD to that path from a cmd window on your Plan-G computer, the path is not accessible and it will not work. (ie. if your cfg file refers to c:\blah... then you will not be able to access it unless you have remapped your C drive)

Hello Tim,
I always receive an error when I try to create a link to the ProgramData folder , see error 3 jpg.
and error 1 jpg.
I have no error when I create to FSX , see no error jpg

I do not understand.
Can you help?
Thanks in advance.

Have you "Shared" \ProgramData on the host machine?

If not:

Right click on the \ProgramData folder on the host
Click properties
Click the sharing tab
Click the Share Button
Add or select users that are allowed to access that folder, for example "Everyone" and allow read/write access to the folder
Click Share
It takes a few moments for all items in the folder to be "Shared"

Hello,
Next steps and questions.
Still the same result on the Portable with PlanG.  :-[
Explanation for the attached screenshots
1/ ProgramData folder  : is now Shared on the main computer
2/ On FSX Main Computer : the path shows the information in the FSX folder in the Microsoft Folder... but the path seams to me incomplete I see no ...\Microsoft\FSX
3/ No FSX in address
4/On portable : the address is NOT complete ... it says "Microsoft (\\Emilefsxwin7-pc\ProgramData) "  there is NO FSX folder visible !!
The content of the folder is without FSX folder ...

I do not understand ...
:'(Thanks in advance.

If you just want to get PG running on the other PC, why not just copy the database files across? There's no real need to build them across the LAN other than sheer cussedness...

Tim. @TimArnot

Emile

Hello Tim,
that's the solution ... I have copied the DB from my FSX PC onto an USB Key, installed on the Portable PC and it works ...
The 2 PC are linked and I see the AIs....
;)
but why this difficulties with the DB?
Thanks for your help.
