I've got it working but I am now totally confused.

The router gives the first address (5) to the machine which boots first, the second (6) is given to the machine which boots next. I booted the Plan-G machine first and it works.

Now, I always boot the XP machine first so the addresses are as I posted earlier and it has been working for two months.

However, even though it is now working, I didn't change the simconnect.xml (on the FSX machine) which still refers to address 6 (now its own address)  ???

The safest thing is to reserve addresses on the router for each machine, then they will always have the same ip address.

Oh yeah  :P

The IP address in Plan-G is for the remote machine.

What should be the IP address in Simconnect.cfg on the remote machine?

In my working situation, both Plan-G and Simconnect use the same IP address.

Both should use the IP of the machine running FSX, ie, what you want to connect to.

Thanks Tim, that's exactly what I needed to know.
