Rod, I'll be delighted for you to come up with a better solution, that's easy for an average user to perform...  ;)

Hi,

Because of the way the service packs operate, a repair of FSX is not recommended. It could cause more problems than it fixes.

:o

Rod,
I have in the past had reason to curse FSX because of the apparent failure of SimConnect, although SimConnect was running and working correctly. However, I did a repair of FSX and got SimConnect working as it should. It worked for me - maybe it would work for you too.

I do not understand why you would need to repair FSX.
I run Plan_G on a client pc which does not have FSX installed. It is just a matter of having the correct version of SimConnect installed on the client machine. My problem simply arose because different builds of Plan_G required different versions of SimConnect. the problem is now sorted.

what would be the correct version of simconnect for the latest build of PlanG?
And where can i get hold of it (if it's not the same as the installer in the SDK)?

Thanks,

Salut, Ottstef, et bienvenue à bord!

You have to run the RTM SimConnect.msi installer program for Simconnect from the SDK. There could be several versions of the installer on your PC as well:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib (v10.0.61259.0)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-RTM (v10.0.60905.0)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-SP1 (v10.0.61242.0)

Plan-G requires that the RTM version be installed, so choose that version of the installer.

These different versions of SimConnect may ALREADY be found under WinSxS:

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.61242.0_x-ww_35e8ee9a
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.61259.0_x-ww_fb842f5a

You can DELETE all 3 of those folders prior to running the RTM version of SimConnect.msi

Bonne chance et bon vol!

hi Tim

great product just what I've been looking for .for ages.

i can get plan G running on my laptop along with fsx but when i try to run over the network to my Bae Hawk simpit ( still under construction) I get an access denied error when locating the fsx.exe file in the options / location window.

I run vista 64 and have disabled user accounts , firewall etc . I'm guessing its a vista error rather than a plan G error bit its proving a real pain in the rear to try and cure.
any advice from more computer literate members than me are welcome.
