KML/KMZ DOES NOT SHOW

I have downloaded a KML- and a KMZ file from Google earth. I want to open either one of them in Plan G V3 and then want to built a flightplan using this route.

BUT when I click on View and then select the KML or KMZ file, the window in Plan G changes to blue and it stays there. I've read in the maual that importing such files can take sometime. So I left it for two hours, but still nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I have had this problem as well. When you mention blue I think you will find that Plan-G places you over one of the oceans (can't remember which one)

I have to use Plan-G v2 for my KML/KMZ's to work.

Thanks.
I think the "route" is to long. When I zoom out, I do get to my innitial flightplan, but no KML route.
A KML with a single point do show. It is not a big issue. I just wanted to see how my flightplan compare to the actual route some guys took over Africa.

There will be a fix for this in build 50, for the kmz at least. The library I have won't read that kml file, no matter what I try. Unfortunately it doesn't throw an error either, so I don't know what it doesn't like about it.

You shouldn't get it repositioning to the middle of the ocean if there's an error, either (in b50).

Thanks Tim. I'll wait for build 50. BUT it stays an awsome program. Thanks for this. :)

Re-opening an old topic, but I have the same issue. This time the .kmz file is from FTX/Orbx and shows the coverage of their new England scenery area. I have no trouble opening other kmz/kml files provided by FTX/Orbx within PlanG (which leads me to wonder if the file itself is made to a different/incompatible standard?)

The download location for the new England .kmz is on this page: http://www.fullterrain.com/product_eueng.html (or here for a direct link: http://fullterrain.com/kmz/FTX_EU_ENG.kmz )

I'm using PlanG version 3.00.46.

Edit: Woops... I'll update to version .50 and report back.

*sigh*

Nope, B50 won't open the England .kmz file, nor will it open a .kmz I found for Tongass Fjords (that one probably doesn't work because it has an extra layer displaying a sectional map overlay.)

Not that this is high up on the importance meter by any means... I'm just (re-) reporting the issue so it's on the list.
