Plan-G Users,

I've begun a project to add real-world waypoints from published aviation charts and documents to FSX and subsequently to Plan-G.  I have added 992 so far and am adding batches of 50-75 more every few days. I'm finding waypoints to add by analyzing randomly selected real-world flight routes and picking out those waypoints that are not already available in stock FSX.

If you enjoy flying with real-world charts and procedures and are running into references to intersections and waypoints that are not in FSX (and thus not in Plan-G), this may improve things over time.

I create a bgl file for FSX, conatining the new named waypoints, which may be either intersections or RNAV/GPS waypoints in the real-world.  Once the bgl file is copied into FSX, rebuilding the Plan-G database has them showing up there as well.  These are not User-defined waypoints in the context of Plan-G, they are named Intersections that show up as the named pink triangles in the Plan-G map.

My waypoints can be downloaded from the File Library at the Mutley's Hangar site.

Note that you must be a registered member at Mutley's Hangar (free) and must be logged in to download.  The download file will unzip to...

JDA Added FSX Waypoints.BGL
JDA Added FSX Waypoints - Read Me.TXT
JDA Added FSX Waypoints - Sorted List.TXT

If installed into your FSX installation, the new waypoints will become part of your FSX installation unless or until you get rid of the BGL file. The new waypoints will be visible on the FSX map and in the GPS and may be incorporated into FSX Flight Plans. If used within the active FSX Flight Plan the waypoint(s) will be listed in the NavLog page on the Kneeboard and will be used as waypoints by the GPS.

Each update of the file is cumulative, including the new waypoints and all the previous ones, using the same filename, so a new, cumulative downloaded file will overwrite the older, smaller one.

The waypoint count is now up to 2,236, available as noted in the post above.

The link for the download seems to be unavailable:

"Sorry, we couldn't find that!

[#10867]
We could not find the file specified"

Edit: Found it, searching the forum. The correct link seems to be : http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/files/file/2737-jda-added-fsx-waypoints/

By the way, thanks for your work! :)

Thanks for finding the correct link.  I think you have to be a registered user at MH to get to the file library, so that link worked for me but probably created a problem for others who are not yet members there.

This little project is nothing to compare to Tim's contribution.  I will continue to add waypoints to that post but it's on the back burner right now as I get all my airport diagrams bundled and posted at Mutley's Hangar for use in the new Plan-G v3.1.
