Just installed the latest version (3.0.7.71) for the umpteenth time. As usual, whenever I click on the icon and run as administrator, within a second or two I get the "Plan G3 has stopped working" box. Below are the contents of the log file, showing two attempts to start the program:

14:13:11.7

---===+++===---

That's it.

Any help would be appreciated...

(I previously had an earlier version of v3 running on the same computer with no problems. The problem started when I upgraded to 3.0.7.71. I uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled my previous version, but now it behaves in the same manner.)

Next thing it does is check the tile cache (C:\Users\Ivan\AppData\Local\GMap.NET\). Maybe there's a problem with it - you could try deleting it.

Can you show the error message from the Windows Event Viewer, that might give a clue...

Hi Tim,

I went back through the previous posts again and found one I hadn't seen that mentioned .net 4.0 instead of 4.5. I uninstalled 4.5.1 which I had and installed 4.0 and it worked! Sorry I didn't see it before.  ::) :o

Thanks for a great program, by the way!!  ;D

Hi,

I get the same error after installing 3.0.7.71.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Anwendung: Plan-G3.exe
Frameworkversion: v4.0.30319
Beschreibung: Der Prozess wurde aufgrund eines Ausnahmefehlers beendet.
Ausnahmeinformationen: System.TypeInitializationException
Stapel:
   bei Plan_G3.App..ctor()
   bei Plan_G3._Main.Main()
---------------------------------------------------------------
(read: exception error)

I installed .net 4.5.1 a few days ago, and for a reason, as another program required it. I am not really inclined to de-install it for 4.0. There should be a better solution.

Any idea what I can do? As a temporary fix, I returned to 3.0.4, which works.

Thanks for any help and
kind regards, Michael

First of all, I must admit Plan G is the best program out there. Thank you for your faithfulness and dedication to give us a best product.

I have a similar problem where Plan G (version: 3.0.6.67) works for awhile and then crashes saying "Plan G stopped working"

It was working fine since I downloaded this version on Oct 15, 2013, until recently. Could it be because of some win 7 update from Microsoft?

I am running Plan G on Window 7, networked to MS FSX running also Win 7 (with no plan G installation).

Event Viewer gives two errors:

First of all, update Plan-G to the last version and see if it works.

Ed, your crash is due to a flaky Simconnect library. It's a known issue, has always been there, and there's nothing can be done (since the programmer left Microsoft etc), short of writing a whole new one from scratch.

Tim,

I'm a recent user of Plan G and I love it.

What I don't understand, is that Active Sky Next uses Simconnect and they are able to track the A/C progress running on a second machine as well as injecting weather into FSX? This FSX app appears to not have issues with Simconnect, but Plan G does? Have the developers of ASN figured out a way to make their app work with Simconnect?

So are you saying, the only solution is to use FSUIPC4 if you want to use Plan G?

Bill Clark

tim arnot

They are using a different library, or hand-rolled code. If I was starting Plan-G today, I wouldn't use the library I picked 5 years ago.

Re 'Plan-G3 has stopped working problems'    I read with considerable interest previous comments that installing,  <.net 4.0>in lieu of the current <.net4.5.1> sometimes clears the problem. Can anyone advise in simple terms how I delete .net4.5 and install .net.4.0.    I would like to go flying again  G-TARQ   thanks.

pmb

Reginald,

I can. Just look for the Programs and Functions Icon in the Control Panel. There you will find Microsoft .net Framework 4.5.1. Right clicking gives you the Option to change/uninstall it.

Afterwards make a Google search for .net framework 4.0. Microsoft has the older versions archived (entry 01).

http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=17718

This should do it.

Personally I would like to see another solution as some other programs require the most recent .net Version (if I recall right, it's suggested for Prepar3d v2, too).

Kind regards, Michael
