No, the free maps are still there (except for CloudMade, who have withdrawn their service). But, with subscription providers now coming onstream, the option will be there to use them should you choose. It's about choice. :)

Can I presume, since you didn't correct strings 1 and 3, that these are okay?

1. I'm not sure about the meaning of Subscription map. If it's a season ticket, then the translation would be "cartes d'abonnement". if it's about the subscription to a map, it would be " abonnement aux cartes"

I'm not quite sure about the background of the "Mapbox access key" (it looks like being a bit solution specific?), however, here is my proposal:

I'm sure that there are more possibilities to say the same with other words - even more elegant... ;D
