Hey!!

I would love to use this great application but in this state it's absolute useless for me. It just crashes again and again with no obvious reproducable trigger ... I even do not have X-Plane open! I start planning and after some rather short time Plan G crashes irreversibly.

So here is my setup:

- Windows 7 with all latest updates
- latest X-Plane 10.32 with Navigraph 1412 cycle installed into \X-Plane 10\Resources\default data
- Plan-G 3.1.2 installed and run with admin privileges

The log file is not very informative to me so I thaught I let you guys have a look at it... perhaps you have a clue.

Thanks in advance for any help

tim arnot

There's nothing particularly indicative in the log file. If you look at the Windows crash report (Event Viewer), that'll show a few useful things like faulting module and so on, which may help narrow it down.

The only suggestion I have right now that can help with random crashes is to put a copy of uiautomationcore.dll into the Plan-G folder.

Ok here is the crash report. Unfortunately it's in german, but I guess that shouldn't be a big problem.

uiautomationcore.dll? When I google this dll I get plenty of hits refering to FSX which explains, why I can't find it on my system :) Should I download it from some abigious sources?  8)

tim arnot

FSX users also need to download the file, so yes it should be okay just to download it. Just drop it into the Plan-G folder. No guarantee it'll work, but it's worth a punt.

Unfortunately the crash log just says it was Plan-G that crashed, which doesn't get us any further forward.

Hello Tim

i have the same Proplem here (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit german with FSX Data). What i have already tryed with no sucess:

- Fresh Installtion from scratch with first deinstallation of the old Version

- changing the Installation directory of PlanG

- copying the UIaumationcore.dll into the PlanG Directoty

- Installation with or without Administrative Rights

- Starting Plan G with or without Administrative Right

- changing the Map Provider

verry frustrating!  :-\

For me it seems that it have something to do with the scrolling and/or zooming Functionality of Plan G
because with nearly 100% propability Plan G crashes when i scroll or zoom the map in or out.

In PlanG.log i found something maybe suspicious a  System.NullReferenceException:

15:54:47.0 ZoomOut_Executed: System.NullReferenceException: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.

The older Version of Plan G (Version 3.1.1.94) works well on my other PC.  - very strange

Thanks  :)

best regards

Your crash seems specifically associated with redrawing the flight plan. Can you confirm the crash goes away if the flight plan is not loaded? And then please attach the flight plan.

Interesting, I observed the same behaviour. Allthough Plan G simply crashes earlier, when I zoom.

Hi Tim,

first i want to say thank you for your fast support.  :)

When the Problem occurs Plan G comes up with an empy Flught Plan Window and an empy Window with Airport Information.
When use zoom use or just scrol the directly without closing the empty windows Plan G crashes immediatly.  This behavior
was reproducible.

But then i close the two empty windows, load an flightplan and close it and the i close Plan G.
After this steps the Problem with the crashes never happen again - very strange

May be be i have something to do with the initialization of Plan G.?

Anyhow now I' am happy  :D

Glad you have it working. I'll still keep the issue open though, because there's obviously something going wrong somewhere...

From time to time I experience crashes, too. Up to now I didn't see any pattern and the only thing that seems to be common is that Plan-G seems to behave more stable in remote areas. Probably the crashes have to do with building up the overlay graphics.

Not knowing what happened, but my crashes seem to have vanished since XP 10.35 update. Very glad about that! Now I can test this thing ;)
