Hi: I think I hve been doing everything correctly, but this is the problem I'm having...When I attempt to build the database for FS9, nothing happens...I have the paths correct, etc...The main screen has a "tint" over FSX, even though I do not have FX installed...I cannot get the program to view the FS9 database, because apparently it is not being created...I have attached the latest log file...Advice would be appreciated!

Steve,

First question: What happens after you hit the "Build Database" button? Is there any visible action after it? Plan-G collects the active data being described in your scenery.cfg file and fills it's own file this way. It shows exactly what is going on, even with progress bars (and it needs quite a while).

Did you check the size and the date of the data base file? You'll find it here: C:\Users\Steves\Documents\Plan-G Files\Data\PlanG3_FS9.sdf. This file should have grown significantly over its original size of 20 kB.

Regards,
Axel

Hi and thanks for the reply; When I attempt to build the FS9 database, thee is a really quick (about a second) bit of action in the database block, and then it returns to the main screen...Here are the two screens you requested: I m running with Administrator privileges, yet I continue to get the error screen attached; And I notice that all of the databases seem to be the same size, yet I only have FS9 installed...Really getting frustrated...This seems like such a great program...Hope we can get it running! Thanks again for the assistance.

The log file suggests that it didn't find any scenery (since there's none listed). Can you upload your scenery.cfg, and we'll see if we can spot a problem.

Sir: Thanks again for the reply...Attached is the Scenery.cfg file...(The forum would not let me attach the file, so I pasted it into the message).....Still no luck in trying to install...No FS9 buttons produce any action...I did notice, also, that when I click on the small button under the Database Tools, the program crashes...No idea what this means!...Thanks again...

I noticed something else...Plan-G is looking for my Scenery.cfg file here:

15:16:21.5 Building database for FS9
15:16:21.5 FS directory is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\
15:16:21.5 Scanning Scenery.cfg (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery.cfg)

But the Scenery.cfg file is really in a different place as shown in the attached screen shot...But, every time I try to change the location in the Data Tools, the program crashed with the attached error messages! Sorry to be a pain, but there must be something wrong somewhere! Thanks again for all of the time you are spending on this!

Hmm, there's something fishy going on there - it shouldn't crash when you try to edit the locations.

As a workaround, try copying the cfg from AppData into your FS9 program folder (rename the existing one first), then see if it will build.

I think moving the .cfg to the FS9 program folder did the trick...It still crashes if I click on the tiny drop down button, but I really have no need to do that...Thanks for getting me straightened out and I know I will enjoy the program!

 :)

(I hope you copied it rather than moved it, or FS9 will start to complain - probably just semantics, but worth checking)

Tim. @TimArnot

I actually just renamed it...Should I change it back to Scenery.cfg? and leave both copies active?
