Have done a search and located some info here, followed suggestions but nothing works.   Tried re-installing the C++ X86 and 64 bit executables, no luck.  Tried resetting permissions on the documents/Plan G folder, no luck.  Currently stumped.  (This problem has been occurring with all versions of Plan G that I've tried, including Version 2.

Here is my log, as you can see it goes to FALSE at the save command:

Have you looked here for them? - C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files  This is where the output is saying they're going.

Normally the *.plg files would go to  C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files\Plans
and the -*.pln files would go to C:\Users\John\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

Each time you save or export a plan/plg you have to navigate to the correct folder. Plan-G does not keep track of the last folder opened when using different file types during the same session.

A trick I have done is to create a shortcut to C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files\Plans then place that shortcut in C:\Users\John\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files. Then do the opposite, create a shortcut to C:\Users\John\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files then place that shortcut in C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files\Plans. Now when the save dialog opens you can shortcut directly (double click the shortcut) to where you want to go with the file, then save.

Of course this could be all moot if you find that the .plg & .pln files are not in the C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files root folder. Just an idea.

Thanks for the response.  The program just does not save.  After I click Export and then the FSX pln option, it simply returns to the main map screen.  No pop-ups, windows, options or advisories!

It's got me beat.  The log just shows that it doesn't proceed with the save but gives no reason for it.

Something must be causing the Save dialogue box to not show up... or any part of the Save routine.

See this thread: http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2825.msg15097#msg15097 There's a C++ redistributable that some people seem not to have, and it's reported that adding it cures the problem.

Thanks Tim, have been through all the steps I could find on this forum, including reinstalling the C++ stuff.  Is there a way of checking that it is installed and operating correctly though?

tim arnot

Nothing that I know about :(

I could have the autosave routine write an export version, which would at least give you something on disc that you could move/rename, but that's all I can think of. The problem is that something outside of my control is telling the file dialog to cancel as soon as it loads.

Yeah I'd love that... one day I will be rebuilding my W7 and FSX install but probably not for months to come yet!  I'd plug on with the FSX planner except for the inability to find non standard airfields!

Thanks

Hi Tim

As the only impediment to saving the FSX flight plan appears to be something inexplicable in my computer, I was thinking I could install Plan G on my laptop and use that to develop my FSX flight plans, which I can then copy over to the FS computer.

However this would require the FSX database from my FS machine version of Plan G.  Is there any problem copying the database that has been generated in my FS machine over to the laptop version to show all the available airfields?

If the databases could be copied over, could you let me know what I would need to copy and where they're located?  If tis works it'll be a lifesaver!!!

EDIT:  All good, I copied the Plan G Files folder from documents to the laptop and the program started and displays all my airports, and allowed me to save the PLN file which I then dropped into the FS computer folder and flew the flight plan.  Slightly more hassle than ideal but woo hoo who cares, it works!

Cheers

tim arnot

I see you've already sussed it. :)

I have the same problem.  I had it a long time ago and did find a fix for it on the internet. Now I have re-installed FSX and all the addons, the problem has re-occured.

From what I can remember, it has something to do with the location of the flightplan folder and the location of the main FSX folder, but I just can't remember the "fix".

If anyone has a clue, I'd be most grateful.

Cheers

I don't know for sure but is it possible that you have an illegal version of W7?
