Inserting and rearranging waypoints

Hi Tim,

when building my flight plans I often have to add Navaids, intersections etc. later (e.g. I add startpoint and destination to see where I am, then start adding navaids).

Unfortunately the new items then get added to the current route at the very end and there does not seem to be an easy way to rearrange them. With right mouse context menu applied on an item I can just select to move up an item once. I need to do this over and over to get it where I need it. With a lot of items on the list, this takes a lot of time and is rather uncomfortable.

May I suggest to add the following functionality?

- Allow drag and drop of route items with the mouse in order to quickly move them to any position
- Allow permanent selection of one item on the list and have an additional icon menu on top of that list with up / down / first / last icons that allows repeated clicks to move the same item up or down multiple times
- Also as long as one item is selected and the window is active, the keys Ctrl-Up, Ctrl-Down, Home and End should move the item when pressed.

I do not know if you know the ancient FS Navigator for MS FS 2004. There it was really easy.

Hi Tim and Ostkamp,

I have a same kind of question. It would be very nice when I add a waypoint to the flightplan on the map, then it's possible to take this point and move it to another place on the map.
While doing that, a line is drawn between the former point on the map and the moving waypoint. On the line I can see the distance between the two points and the heading.
FSNavigator had this function which was very handy.

Hello,
you can select a waypoint in the flight plan (let's call it A) and then, clicking with the right mouse button on the waypoint on the map (let's call it B), you'll see two menu options: "Insert B after A" and "Insert B before A".

This does not allow to easily rearrange waypoints which are already part of the list at a later time, it just allows to add new waypoints at a certain position. So it is not what I need. Thanks anyway for mentioning.

A quick and dirty workaround method would be to SAVE AS SNIPPET. A Snippet file is a simple 1 line per waypoint listing which you can easily reorder in notepad. Then reload the snippet file. (note: Snippet files can be partial or complete flight plans, and can be inserted at any point in an existing plan)

I'll look into your suggestions for a future release.

Currently, to insert after or before a certain point, you need to open the plan panel, then click a waypoint where you wish to insert before or after - then right-click your intended map point and add it. You will have to click in the plan panel for each insertion.
