Question about putting checkmarks in scenery.cfg

I want to have a clean, tidy but most for all a fast scenery.cfg. So I created some cfg. for different regions in the world. That speeds up the fsx start-up.

Monitoring the database buildup Plan-G I notice that Plan-G checks scenery maps containing only photorealistic info also, just because it has a checkmark.
I wonder if the checkmark is necessary for building the database.

As far as I know Plan-G builds a database containing nav.aids and airport information.
If so, can I uncheck these area's in the scenery.cfg?

The idea behind this is to create a scenery.cfg containing only the area's involving the database Plan-G information, so databasebuilding can be executed fast.

Thanks for your info...

if you don't already have it, you should download a freeware program for FSX called Scenery Config Editor. It allows you to add different groups which you can name. So, you could have one just for England, one for all of Europe, one for Europe & North America, etc. It all just depends on how much add-on scenery you have. When you have made your scenery choices there, you save it under whatever name you want so you can load it whenever you want. When you want to load particular groups of scenery, you first load one of your saved configs named something like europe.cfg and then resave it as the scenery.cfg (make a backup of the default scenery.cfg first or rename it to sceneryOld.cfg). This new scenery.cfg with your choices of scenery is what FSX will now load as it starts. It ignores all the other cfg files in that folder by default.

Let me know if I explained this properly or if you have any other questions.

Any scenery locations that you want in the Plan-G database but don't necessarily want in your scenery.cfg, you can add to AdditionalSceneryLocations.txt in the Plan-G Files folder. (one fully qualified path per line)

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply.

The procedure about different scenery.cfg is familiar to me. I use different .cfg already.

Perhaps my question is not clear due to my English.
The general idea is that I want to have a specific scenery.cfg, only for the use of building a Plan_G database. That's my objective!  For the sake of this post lets give it the name "Plan-G Databasebuiding.cfg"

If Plan-G doesn't do anything with addon-scenery's, (that do not have nav. or airport information) why enter them in the "Plan-G Databasebuiding.cfg". It speeds up the process.
