Hello - this is an old (age) newbie.  Has anyone managed to make Plan G work with X- Plane 9.  I can't create an X-Plane database or connect to X-Plane 9.  Thank you

tim arnot

Just fill in the location of your X-Plane.exe in the Database Build Options dialog and you're set to build. For connecting to X-Plane, you need to install XPUIPC. It's all detailed in the manual and the readme. :)

Thank you Tim.  I have given the location "C:\Users\gibboj\Desktop\X-Plane 9".  I also have XPUIPC. All I get is a message "Preparing database for new date" and the green ar running across the bottom of the screen and yhis situation goes on forever.  I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit - Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU    Q8300  @ 2.50GHz, 2499 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) - display adapter nVidia GForce 9400 GT.  Does this additional info help.  Appreciate your response. Thank you - John

That location sounds suspicious - X-Plane is almost never installed directly to the desktop. There are all sorts of support folders that it needs, and they're going to be at least one level down.

Also what version of Plan-G are you running?

Tim. @TimArnot

Because of your suspicions I uninstalled X-Plane 9 and reinstalled it in C:/X-Plane 9.  I did the same with XPUIPC.  I then did the same with Plan-G - which incidentally is v 3.1.4.123.  I think I have attached the Plan-G log file?
With X-Plane 9 running when I click on connect I get a small black square, with a upright white arrow, at the left under Find.  This does not mean much to me??  There is no connection in that my 'plane does not appear in the Plan-G map.  When I try to build an X-Plane data base I fail as I mentioned earlier.
Thanks for making suggestions - John

That's the wind arrow. Shows you're connected. The log shows several traffic updates, so you should be seeing something.

There's a test build here http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3578.msg17454#msg17454 which fixes a database error with X-Plane 11. Looks to be the same error that you're getting (I didn't know it also affected X-Plane 9). It's not a full installer, so just unzip and copy over the files.

Thanks again Tim.  The file you suggested did allow the creation of a database.  Unfortunately the yellow aircraft does not appear and therefor also no trace of a flight.  Regards John

Just to click the following sequence:

File --> Options --> User Aircraft --> finally Aircraft Display is checked, and Map Sync is Sync

Then go to Home tab and Connect to the flight simulator.

Thank you Dempsey but alas that did nothing for me.  Regards John

If you move the map away from the aircraft location, does it snap back after a few seconds (with Lock or Sync set)?

Tim. @TimArnot

Gibboj

No, neither with Lock nor Sync.  If the map is not in aircraft location when it is connected it also does not move with either Lock or Sync on.  Regards John

Gibboj,

Can you please attached your latest PLAN-G_log.txt file. It will speed up things when Tim has a chance to look at this.

Thanks

Hi Dempsey - log file attached.  To keep you fully informed please note that today, in an endeavour to help myself (?), I uninstalled Plan-G and reinstalled it using setup_Plan-G_3.1.4.123.test.  I then overrode the exe file with the one Tim suggested in reply #5.  When I started Plan-G I was able to load the databases for FSX and X-Plane 9. Works fine with FSX but still no little yellow plane in X-Plane 9.  Anyhow - thanks for trying.
Cheers - John

When searching for precious instances of this problem, I found

I found the problem.
In X-plan XPUIPC plugin setting, there is a menu "ATC Setting".
In this menu there are 4 fill. In one of this "Tail Number" I wrong write a "space" char before my number.
I deleted this space and Plan-G show me immediately my aircraft on the map !!

Maybe it'll help?

There are only four possible causes for this problem:

* User aircraft data is being received but the aircraft is not displayed (F6 toggles the aircraft off and on, and telemetry data - airspeed, altitude etc - is always shown in the GPS popup)

* FS/XPUIPC is sending telemetry but it's not being received

* FS/XPUIPC is not sending telemetry

* There is no connection with FS/XPUIPC or FS/XPUIPC can't connect to the sim (this will be clearly evident in the log)

Nothing seems to get me any where but thank you all for trying.  Incidentally Tim in the last line of your message to which log file do you refer?  I presume the Plan-G log file: which suggests a failure to connect but I would not have a clue what o do about it!!!  I will just have to restrict my enjoyment of Plan-G with FSX.  Cheers - John
