Flight plans are not saved with extension .PLN

When I make a flight plan and save it. I does not appear in FSX. When I look up why, I see the plan saved with a shortcut name of the first airport of the flight plan instead of .PLN.
When I change the extension to .PLN everything works fine.
Why does this happen ?

Eh? Never heard of that happening. What is the filename you saved it with? Is there an error recorded in the log file? What is your OS?

I created a flight starting at Ben Gurion - Israel.
After saving the first 8 characters are used for the extension.

I will try again tonight and see what the log file records.
My OS is Windows XP.

The next time I used plan-g everything worked fine.  :D
