X-Plane 11 database failed to build (merged)

Hi Tim,
Having just updated my version of XP from 11.05 to 11.10 I then went to rebuild the database for XP11.10 only to find that the build failed at the apt.dat section. I tried several times, but the result was the same. I had no problems in XP11.05!

Hey John, that was the X-Plane log, not the Plan-G log!

* Delete the Plan-G Files\Data\PlanG3_XPX.sdf file before running Plan-G
* Are you running in Administrator mode?
* Is your ProgramData marked as hidden? (one user reported the problem went away after unhiding)
* Did you recently do a system update? If so, one of the DotNet libraries may not have

Rebooted PC.
Running in Administrator Mode
ProgramData - the directory shows in Windows Explorer, as do the files therein.
Not recently done a system update.

Ran Plan-G to build the database & I get the same result - PG in a loop in the apt.dat bit.
Have you any more suggestions, Tim?

I had the same problem, 11.05 ran fine, 11.10 crashes. I think here is problem:

15:58:47.6 DeleteExistingData: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\John\Documents\Plan-G Files\Data\PlanG3_XPX.sdf' because it is being used by another process.

Even after deleting the PlanG3_XPX.sdf id didn't work. So I tried a restart which also didn't help. Today it works likes magic.

I'd try to delete the file PlanG3_XPX.sdf while Plan-G is closed and do a restart before opening Plan-G again and close the Explorer or anything that could have access to file. Maybe this helps. It seems that Plan-G cannot access some files.

I got the next error, seems that the database size limit is too small:

I get the same thing here XP-Flieger. I am fairly sure that Tim is aware of it and has looked into the depths of his program but does not see anything wrong.  Does seem to happen to a few of us, and I am certainly not savvy enough to try and figure out what is wrong on our end.
Plan-G will not run for me anymore (after years of successful use) and I reverted to LittleNav Map which does work. Of course, each program has it advantages/disadvantages over the other.
I am still holding on for a solution, probably a Win-10 bug.

Thanks for this wonderful tool. I'm using it since a few years. Sometimes there were some problems (especially with new XP versions), but they have been always solved. And I'm sure that you'll fix this also.  :)


BTW: I'm using Win7SP1, so it's not a Win10 bug.

I downloaded and installed Plan-G V3.2.0.144, on another computer (Win10 64bit), ran the x-plane data base build and it built just fine, no errors. Beats my two pair.

On my testing installation with no additional airports it also runs fine. But the size of the Database ist smaller than my main installation.

I too have had the same problem and as a result of me coming back after a few months off and updating.

Will watch out for an program up date or a solution to the problem i get which is I get  "Access to database file is not allowed". Where do i find the log to download and read??

Assuming your speaking of Plan-G log, look in the Documents folder/Plan-G Files/Plan-G log.txt
