Hi Tim
First off thanks for an excellent piece of software  :)  I used to use it for fsx.
My question is how do I set this up for FS2020 steam version..
I have fs2020 on first computer, Plan G on second computer. What do I need to do to get both pc to see one another both running Windows 10.
Once that part is done, how do I set up plan G to see my steam install?
Sorry for my ignorance not good with networks 😏
Many thanks for any help and assistance.

1. Install Plan-G on both computers.
2. Run Plan-G on the sim computer, and build the database (just select "FS2020" from the list, don't need to worry about anything else.
3. When the build has finished, copy the My Documents\Plan-G Files folder (and all its subfolders) to your other PC.
4. To connect Plan-G on the remote PC to MSFS, you will need to configure Simconnect, and possibly open a port in your firewall. Instructions for both are stickied in the main support area.

Hi Tim
I followed all your instructions, but it doesn't connect! I built the fs2020 database then copied over to the 2nd pc, all that information appears in Plan G :), however I think my problems are from the ports in the firewall I opened the local port 500, as stated in the sim connect XML file, IPV4 protocol is this correct.
The simconnect xml is in Users/alexc/appdata/Roaming/Microsoft flight simulator.
I cant find simconnect cfg file.
I have added a log file from Plan G.
Many thanks for your help, apologies for being a bit unwise.
cheers

What version and build number of Windows are you running?

Tim. @TimArnot

Axel1962

Hi Tim
on my main FS2020 pc Windows 10pro Version 1909  build is 18363, 1082
on my 2nd pc Windows 10pro N version 1909 build is 18363, 1082
hope this helps.
update, I now see all the fs airports, nav,poi etc on Plan G, but when I connect still cant see my plane or any AI.
Tim, where would I find the simconnect cfg file?
cheers for your help.

Hi Tim
just a quick question, in the FS connection parameters window, what should be in the SimConnect (FSX/2020) config index mine reads zero is that correct or should it be my port number?
cheers
Alex

tim arnot

Index is 0.

You create Simconnect.cfg either in your "My Documents" folder, or in the Plan-G program folder (either place will work, but My Documents has the advantage that you don't need to remember to copy it if you create a second install)

Simconnect.xml goes on your FS PC in %AppData%\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache for MS Store installs and (possibly) %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\ for Steam (if it's not there, it'll be somewhere similar.

Hi Tim
does the simconnect xml file need my ip address in there?
as mine doesn't.
have posted a copy of the xml file.as a text file as couldn't post xml format
cheers

Yes, you need to create  an entry exactly as it said in the Sticky (with your IP and port no):

<!-- Example Global (remote) IPv4 Server Configuration-->
  <SimConnect.Comm>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol>
    <Scope>global</Scope>
    <MaxClients>64</MaxClients>
    <Address>192.168.0.106</Address>
    <Port>4504</Port>
  </SimConnect.Comm>

The entries in the sample are all LOCAL (for connections on the same machine). Your entry needs to be GLOBAL (for remote connections).

Hi Tim
Many thanks, will try later today, does the simconnect xml file on fs pc, need to be global as well.
Cheers
Alex

tim arnot

That IS the simconnect.xml. You add the global section (as detailed) to it.

You should also find a copy of the old FSX SP2 simconnect.dll and place it in the Plan-G program folder. This will prevent 'Can't load dll' errors.

Hi Tim
I know I am being incredibly thick about this but I just cant seem to get this to work :( Your patience has been absolutely fantastic regarding this, I have attached my XML,from ms host machine, cfg from the plan G pc and also the log file from plan G.
I am a Pain, but massive thanks for trying to help me in getting this up and running.

You've shown me two simconnect.xml files. You should have a simconnect.xml file on the  FS PC and a Simconnect.cfg file on the Plan-G PC. I haven't yet seen the cfg, but the xml looks fine.

Did you copy the FSX simconnect.dll as I asked above?

You are getting those 'Can't load dll' errors. Adding the simconnect.dll and fixing that is your first priority.
