I have recently upgraded from XP to WIN 7 Pro 64 bit. Plan G does not seem to want to work, I have had it on XP and it worked perfectly. Not sure if it just doesnt like WIN 7, it locks up and crashes etc. I have tried to  reinstall but it gets worse.

Please help I love the program

Can you upload the log file please?

Plan-G should work fine under Win7.

It doesn't like drawing one of your airports - probably an addon. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me which one, or where your map is centred.

So can you tell me:

* What is the lat/lon of the centre (approx) of your map, and at what zoom level?
* Do you get a separate error displayed on the screen? If so, what does it say?
* Does the error go away if you hide medium-sized airports?
* Does the error go away if you move the map beyond the current boundaries?
* Have you installed any scenery to FS that wasn't present with the old OS?

Hi Tim,
When I first installed the program I had a map and all the regular features. I did not really check the map location because everything looked OK I ran the database, afterwards I ran FSX and ran the connect function, that's when I noticed it was running rather slow. It did show my location but when I tried to zoom in or out it seemed to be locking up.
Each time I ran the program it seemed to worse. Now when I run the program I only get the top and side banners no map, the program is locked and I have exit out.

I cant tell you the lat & lon or zoom level because I was having trouble with the map and was not paying attention to those items

There were no error messages only when I closed the program a message from WIN 7 that the program was not responding.

I have not yet re-installed any of the scenery files that I have.

Another look at the log file, and yes, it is running *very* slow.

What spec is your PC?
Have you turned off UAC?
Have you tried right-clicking the Plan-G icon and selecting 'Run As Administrator'?

Tim. @TimArnot

UAC is off
No change running as administrator

I notice you're not running the latest version. I don't *think* that would affect this particular problem, but it would certainly help to be up to date.

Is FSX running at the time you start Plan-G, or do you start them together -- what's the sequence? There can be some odd problems occur depending on how you start the combination. It's usually better to start FS before you run Plan-G, if you're going to combine them.

Tim. @TimArnot

I will download latest version

Usually in XP I would start FSX first but since WIN 7 I have started both FSX first and PLAN G on its own trying to find the problem.
Do you think I may need a registry cleaner? I have noticed you have made that recommendation to others, if so which one would you recommend

tim arnot

I think it's always better to let FS fully start before running Plan-G, but it's worth trying other combinations. It is certainly possible to make P-G really grind to a halt if you get the timing wrong - no idea why it happens though.

You could try a registry cleaner; don't know if it'll make much difference though. I don't have a preference, they all seem much of a muchness - go for the one with the least intrusive advertising...

Larry      One of the registry cleaners that does work very well is CCleaner, it does what it says on the box. It is not one of those that puts a lot of hooks into your system everytime you run it either.  Please also note that NVIDIA 196.75 is not the one to get, it as fan speed issues.   Good luck     Myk
Getting the hang of this flying lark

Tim &  Myk,

I have run ccleaner and re-installed PLAN-G. The program now loads as it should, I ran fsx database, after completion the connect brought me to the airport location in FSX but no airports are showing and the aircraft icon does not show up. I have checked all the map settings but nothing brings in airports or aircraft.
Any suggestions?

Larry

tim arnot

That suggests the database didn't build properly. Please upload the log.

There are no errors showing in the log. Sure you don't just have overlays turned off for that zoom level?
