The Plan-G User Manual calls for the use of .Net Framework v3.5 SP1.... will .Net 4.0 work with Plan-G as well?...... or is V3.5 SP1 a mandatory program?  Hope to hear from you folks soon. I have .Net 4.0 installed and that is why I aasking.

No idea I'm afraid. Try it and see -- if it crashes immediately on startup, the answer is no. Be interested to know your results.

BTW, what OS are you using? If it's Win7 then 3.5SP1 is already installed.

Hello Tim:
thanks for your rapid response.... have not had a chance to try Plan-G with FSX as of this time as I am still completing the install but so far things appear OK... but normally at this point "Enter Murphy's Law" ... what I have seen of Plan-G so far is very impressive and I am hoping that it works as well as it looks..... will keep you up-dated on the Plan-G vs .Net 4.0.

Further to your reply re: .Net 4.0..... I tried to start up FSX and Plan-G and the system crashed to desktop.... I then followed the Microsoft instructions for uninstalling .Net 4.0 through Control Panel and uninstall went well... in a nutshell, .Net 4.0 does not appear to work.  Looking forward to flying using Plan-G.

I run .NET 4.0 and it works great on my side. The only problem is i keep getting a "Web Browser, Continue Running Scripts" error. You can disable this through Internet Explorer. Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Check both "Disable Script Debugging" boxes and Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error" :)

Hello Stiggy:
Thanks for your response... my OS is XP Pro and when I tried to activate FSX after putting it into minimize mode so that I could activate Plan-G, after Plan-G came up I then tried to bring FSX back up from the task bar and nothing would happen.... after several minutes of this negative response I did a "Control / Alt / Delete" and the message there was FSX not responding.... so, I went back and uninstalled .Net 4.0 and all appears to be good so far using .Net Framework v3.5 SP1 as called for on page 3 of 68 of the Plan-G User Manual.... Bear in mind Stiggy, that I really don't know how to use Plan-G as I installed it yesterday for the first time and it looks like a real good package to work with..... Tim, if you are reading this, my answer to you re my OS is above.... sorry for missing it in my last response to you.

FSX disappearing sometimes after you minimise it is a well known and longstanding issue, and has nothing to do with .Net or Plan-G. I've had .Net 4.0 installed here for several weeks, and have had no issues. (the reason I asked for a report is that since 3.5SP1 is an integral part of Win7, I have no way of installing 4.0 without 3.5SP1 always being there)

The continue running scripts warning happens when you display a lot of overlays (small airports, airspace, intersections...). Slow Internet connections can make it worse, as can the load on google's servers.

Hi - I just D/L and installed both Plan-G and .net 4.0.  No joy - the small title screen comes up and then crashes.  :(  OS is XP Pro.  Is there an error file?

You need to install .NET 3.5 SP1 4.0 is not used by Plan-G.

Good morning Wolf624,

it is very typical that you get a black screen when you minimize FSX from full screen mode down to the task bar and try to resize it again. The solution is very simple: When the black screen appears after toggling back to FSX just press the enter key. Tataaa - and FSX is present again in full screen mode! For me and my system (i5 with Win7 64 bit, FSX + ACC) this works fine and changing from full screen FSX to PlanG-window and back has become a standard procedure.

Kind regards

Thanks for that tip!  I'll have to try that next time I have hassle getting back into FSX - sometimes using Alt Tab to go back to FSX has worked for me too...

Kurt2404

Good morning Grocs,

ALT+TAB is just the key combo for toggling between applications or instances. When FSX is in full screen mode (not the same as full size window mode - look for the window frame... if it is present all toggling will work without any problems but you will have also much lower frames per second than in the real full screen mode) the screen will remain black when e.g. toggling from PlanG back to FSX. Just in this case hitting the enter key will solve the problem reliably.

Sorry for getting a little off topic!

Kind regards

Mmmm - I did have 3.5 SP1 to begin with.  So I removed 4.0 and "Repaired" 3.5 SP1  still no joy.   :'(
