Plan-G / Re: Open Street Map not working today

There is another free planner called VFRFlight by Lukasz Kulasek up to version 2.1 which has maps, I wonder what map source he uses. There seems to be a plethora. https://www.facebook.com/vfrflight
I find it less comfortable to use than Plan-G however.

It's a damned shame. Back to FS Commander for me which is a poor substitute for a moving map/planner imo. May have to look at Avlasoft.

I wonder which maps this chap uses, he claims 7. I have not had the opportunity to d/l his software but it is free, anyone in the know?

I get this too which isn't an issue so much in airliners, but when lo & fast the lag is quite noticeable. Is there a tweak which increases Plan-G's polling of FSX?

This is a marvellous program and I don't want to appear one of the whiners.

I presently am using FSX in DX10 mode utilising a pseudo-full screen mode as I run Plan-G on a second monitor (it is run off the same PC).  Previously I was running Plan-G on a laptop networked via FSUPIC & WideFS and there was not such a noticeable lag.

I still connect via FSUIPC as I find SimConnect unstable and all too often it crashes.

FYI - I had the exact same thing when trying to access VRMM (Male) 2 nights ago, Plan-G would just give up and vanish.  It was OK everywhere else I tried it (mainly North America). Today it works fine at VRMM and elsewhere.  The PC has been on continuously so it cannot be related to a reboot/memory issue etc.  I think it must be a Google Map thing as opposed to an error with the Plan-G program itself.  I use the program on a networked laptop to FSX/FS9/P3D on the main PC.  There is never very much else running on the laptop other than Vista32, WideClient, Active Sky 2012, AiSmooth.

Plan-G / So much more than just a moving map.

Fabulous!  Just got better today. Up until today I have solely used this s/w as a moving map display on a networked laptop beside my FSX monitor.  Today I decided to examine it a bit deeper during an uneventful flight.  Lo and behold it is so much more.  I had not realised it contained such things as approaches etc..
This truly is a great addition to the hobby.  Thank you.
